Callaway Gardens Renovating the Southern Pine Cottages

Cottages offer nature-based accommodations

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (Dec. 5, 2001) The 155 two-bedroom Southern Pine Cottages at Callaway are undergoing a renovation designed to showcase the simple elegance of a casual country lifestyle. The Cottages will provide spacious accommodations for conference guests to The Southern Pine, a top-level meeting center opening Sept. 2002.

"By refreshing our Southern Pine Cottages, we're improving the charm and comfort of these wonderful private retreats where our guests may enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Callaway environment," said George Fischer, Callaway Gardens president.

The relaxing accommodations already offer comfortable living and dining areas, decorated with elegant country furnishings.  Fireplaces add a warm, residential touch, and screened porches and decks are furnished for lounging and are complete with grills for outdoor meals.  Fully equipped kitchens and individual climate controls give guests a home-away-from-home experience.

The refurbishment, due to be completed Spring 2002, includes new tile and carpeting, increased counter space in kitchens, the addition of microwave ovens to all units, new fireplace hearth and screens and reupholstered furniture.

The Southern Pine Cottages are just a quick stroll away from The Southern Pine at Callaway.  This $12.6 million executive-level conference center at the Georgia retreat will be steeped in the Callaway tradition where quality and service is distinctively integrated with nature.

The 54,000 square-foot, nature-based conference facility includes 22,000 square feet of meeting space and unique approaches to environmental design that sets The Southern Pine apart from other meeting centers.  Most areas throughout the conference center will be lit by natural daylight, and the one-story building, carefully nestled in a pine forest, will give virtually every meeting room a view of the outdoors where landscaped courtyards and terraces keep guests in touch with their natural surroundings.
