Appointed to GM Postions with Aston Hotels & Resorts |
HONOLULU (Feb. 21, 2002) With a reputation for promoting from within,
ASTON Hotels & Resorts Hawaii is proud to announce the appointments
of long-time employee DeeAnn Rapozo to General Manager of the ASTON Kaha
Lani and the appointment of Millicent Agena to Resort Manager of the ASTON
Kauai Beach Villas. Both were born and raised on Kauai. Four of six
of ASTONs Kauai properties are now led by women born and raised on Kauai.
After graduating from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1986, Agena, began her career in the hospitality industry in guest relations. Agena has opened up housekeeping departments for ASTON in Guam and Indonesia. In 1999, she was placed at the ASTON Waikiki Sunset and the ASTON at the Waikiki Banyan as director of housekeeping and was assigned to assist with consolidating the housekeeping operations of 680 rooms in three towers. ASTON also announced the appointments of veteran ASTON general managers Hakim Ouansafi to general manager of ASTONs newest property, the ASTON Waikiki Parkside Hotel, and Lopaka Mansfield to general manager of the ASTON Aloha Surf. Ouansafi comes over from the LaeRoc owned ASTON Aloha Surf where he oversaw a $1.5-million renovation. Under the direction of Ouansafi, the ASTON Aloha Surf, located in Waikiki, was recently transformed into a catchy, surf-theme hotel. Because of the successful completion of the ASTON Aloha Surf refurbishing project, Ouansafi has been selected to be at the helm of the ASTON Waikiki Parkside Hotel, another ASTON property owned by LaeRoc, Partners LLC that will get a new look. Last December, LaeRoc contracted ASTON Hotels & Resorts Hawaii to begin managing the Waikiki Parkside. Under the agreement, the ASTON Waikiki Parkside Hotel, is slated for a $2-million makeover funded by the LaeRoc. Mansfield, referred to by friends on Kauai as the mayor of Waimea, moves to Waikiki from the ASTON Islander on the Beach to take over for Ouansafi at the ASTON Aloha Surf. Mansfield has spent most of his ASTON career on Kauai where he was general manager of Waimea Plantation Cottages. It was at Waimea Plantation Cottages where Mansfield became somewhat of a national celebrity too after appearing on a segment for the Travel Channels Hawaiian Holidays show. Mansfield, a graduate of Kamehameha, was the president of the Board of Presidents of the national organization of the Kamehameha Schools Alumni Association. He also served on the board of the Council for the Boys and Girls Club of Waimea, Kauai and on the board of the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation, Inc. as well as the board for the Kauai Chapter of the Hawaii Hotel Association. Mansfield oversaw operations at the ASTON Islander on the Beach while general manager Kanani Akeo was on medical hiatus. Akeo has since returned to the job in good health. Based in Honolulu, ASTON® Hotels & Resorts Hawaii operates 34 condominium resorts and hotels on the four major Hawaiian Islands.
