Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts Appoints Four 
Director of Sales for Mexico Hotels

MIAMI, Florida (Nov. 9, 2001) � Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts has appointed new directors of sales at the Meliá Los Cabos All-Suite Oceanfront Spa & Golf Resort and Meliá San Lucas, both in Los Cabos; Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma Hotel & Convention Center, Mexico City; Paradisus Riviera Cancun � All-Suites All-Inclusive Beach & Spa Resort, Puerto Morelos and Meliá Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive Resort. 

Roberta Ramos has been appointed director of sales of the Meliá Los Cabos and Meliá San Lucas, Los Cabos.  Previously, Ramos worked in sales with various international hotel companies such as the Bass Group, Vista Hotels and Westin Ixtapa.  Ramos also served as a sales and marketing consultant for the opening of the Meliá Azul Ixtapa Beach Resort & Conference Center in December 1998.  Ramos received her degree in Management Administration from the University del Valle de Mexico. 

Humberto Unna has been named director of sales of the five-star Gran Meliá Mexico Reforma, Mexico City.  Previously, Unna served as the director of sales and marketing for the Westin Regina Resort, Ixtapa, and sales manager for Krystal Vallarta Hotel & Village, Puerto Vallarta.  Unna received his degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Johnson & Wales University, Providence Rhode Island. 

Claudia Ritter has been appointed director of sales of the new 500-room Paradisus Riviera Cancun � Sol Melia�s newest all-inclusive resort, which will open Dec. 15, 2001.  Ritter previously served as the director of European sales for Sol Meliá�s Dominican Republic properties as well as various management positions within the Meliá Bavaro and Meliá Juan Dolio.  She received her management degree from the school of tourism (VOX) in Madrid, Spain.  A German native, Ritter is fluent in English, Spanish, German and French. 

Luis Fortanell has been named director of sales of the 360-room Meliá Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive Resort.  Fortanell, who has been with Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts for more than six years, has served as the director of promotions for Latin America in Miami, director of sales for South America in Buenos Aires, and director of sales at the Meliá Turquesa, Cancun.  He has also worked with various international hotel companies such as Westin Hotels and Crowne Plaza Resorts.  Fortanell obtained his degree in Management Administration from the University del Valle de Mexico and a marketing degree from Holiday Inn University, Memphis, Tennessee.
