Someplaces Different, a New Hampshire Boutique Hotel Developer, Opens Historic Hotel in Keene

June 11, 2001 - The E.F. Lane Hotel is open for business!  Keenes long awaited upscale hotel opened its doors on Monday, May 14.  The completely restored circa 1890s E.F. Lane Building, located on Main Street in Keenes bustling Central Square, now contains 40 guest rooms and suites, a bistro-style restaurant, and banquet facilities.  Elegantly restored with traditional New England features, the hotel is furnished with all of the modern amenities todays discriminating business or leisure traveler is accustomed to.

The restaurant, named after Salmon Chase, the Keene native and former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under President Abraham Lincoln, is now open for lunch and dinner daily.  We are looking forward to serving the Keene community, said General Manager, Denise Meadows, whose restaurant welcomes the general public, as well as the hotels guests.  We hope that the Keene community comes in and finds us warm and accommodating, a gathering place that allows them to relax and enjoy the many varieties of food well be offering, Meadows added.

The $4.4 million project was completed by Someplaces Different, an Exeter, New Hampshire based boutique hotel

The E.F. Lane Hotel building was constructed over 100 years ago as a traditional New England brick and granite mill style structure. Conversion of the building to a hotel began in the year 1999. Meticulous care and consideration is being  taken during every phase of this restoration.
developer.  The project is an integral part of Keenes Downtown Revitalization Project.  Keene is an ideal community for our style of hotel, said Dan Mahoney, President of Someplaces Different.  We certainly want to thank Keenes city leaders for their assistance along the way, Mahoney stated.  At the top of that list, would also have to be Peter Hazel at Granite Bank, and Jack Dugan at Monadnock Economic Development Corporation.  Their help, patience, and perseverance during the development period were tremendous.

The hotels guest rooms are a variety of sizes, floor plans, and styles.  Two level loft suites with whirlpool baths are sure to impress the most sophisticated guests.  Room rates will range between $129.00 and $275.00.  The hotel is open to the public; just drop in if you would like to take a tour, Meadows offered.  Were ready to go!

Someplaces Different also operates the Centennial Inn, Concord, The Inn & Conference Center of Exeter, the Sise Inn, Portsmouth, and several other Inns and hotels in Canada and the Eastern United States.
