Dr. Cathy Hsu Joins Hong Kong Polytechnic University�s 
Hotel and Tourism School


 
June 26, 2001 - Dr. Cathy Hsu, a winner of several research excellence awards, will join the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as a Professor in July 2001. Previously a faculty member at Kansas State 
and Iowa State Universities, Dr. Hsu received her PhD and MS degrees from Iowa State University in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management, and her BS degree in Home Economics from Fu-Jen University in Taiwan.

Among many scholarly accomplishments, Professor Hsu published an edited a book on Legalized Casino Gaming in the US: The Economic and Social Impact, published in 1999 by The Haworth Hospitality Press and co-authored a book 


 
Dr. Cathy Hsu
on Marketing Hospitality, released by John Wiley and Sons in 2001. Her research foci have been the economic and social impacts of casino gaming, tourism destination marketing, tourist behaviors, and hospitality education.  She has published over 60 refereed journal articles and proceedings papers.  

Cathy is a member of the Travel and Tourism Research Association, International Society of Travel and Tourism Educators (ISTTE), and Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (CHRIE).  She has served on the CHRIE board of directors and is currently on the ISTTE board of directors.  She also serves on 5 journal editorial boards.  She received the Best Article of the Year award from the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research in 2000.  She is listed in Who�s Who Among Asian Americans.
