Silicon Valley is a destination frequented by business travelers who
are early adopters of new technologies and Wayport has recognized their
need for dependable, convenient access to families and corporate networks,
said Dave Vucina, chief executive officer of Wayport, Inc. We are
meeting that need by delivering high-speed, portable Internet access to
a broad array of hotels in a region where users consistently expect the
latest in cutting-edge services.
Wayports wired access in guestrooms and meeting rooms and wireless
in the lobby, meeting rooms and public areas such as the pool and restaurants
allow guests to browse the Web, send or receive email and access corporate
networks at speeds 50 to 200 times faster than traditional dial-up modems
or cellular connections from anywhere in the hotel.
For a nominal fee, guests at each hotel can use
Wayports wired or wireless Ethernet connection to send and receive email
or surf the Web at T1 speed throughout the hotel properties. Through
a simple connection process, guests and meeting attendees bypass dial-up
times, busy signals and the hassle of local access numbers.
In addition to Wayports expanding footprint in Silicon Valley, the
company recently launched its service at Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport and Austin Bergstrom International Airport, with plans to launch
another major-market U.S. airport by year-end. Currently, the company
is offering 50 free wireless connects per user available at wireless service
locations from now through the end of the year to encourage participation
in its membership program.
