 Japanese Professional Baseball Player, Troy Neel, 
Acquires South Pacific Island Resort
29 Nov 2000 - One of Vanuatu�s most loved island resorts has sold to a professional baseball player, Troy Neel and his wife, Jasmine. US and Canadian citizens, Troy and JJ are scheduled to return to Japan in late January when Troy begins spring training. A former MVP, Troy is a designated hitter, sure to take Erakor Island to new levels of performance.

the early eighties, the property, under the Neel�s stewardship, is due to undergo extensive renovation and expansion, including several new beachfront bungalows, a sportsbar and spa. Plans also include six private villas to be built on the sunset coast of the island and sold to individual investors.  

Michael Dalke of Resource Pacifica will spearhead the effort to re-develop and re-position the resort.
 

The sale was brokered by Pacific Island Investments, an international brokerage and consulting firm, based in Hawaii and specializing in resorts and private islands throughout the South Pacific. PII, through its local Vila affiliate, Island Properties, will handle the marketing and sale of the villas. 

The island is owned and leased by Erakor Village, which supplies most of the resort�s employees. Andy and Haidee 


Erakor Island Resort is a boutique hotel located on a pristine 16-acre island, surrounded by white sandy beaches, floating in a breathtaking lagoon.
Johnson of Australia are the resort managers and will stay on during the construction and re-positioning phases. 

Westpac Bank (Port Vila) financed part of the AUD$4.5 million package.
