Developers Bruce Berger and Seth Berger of Denver
awarded Hyatt the management job for the $220 million hotel, which is scheduled
to break ground next fall and subsequently open mid-2003. Design and construction
details are being finalized.
The new Hyatt will have a 30,000- square - foot grand ballroom, the
largest in the state, and will also include a 15,000 - square -foot junior
ballroom and an additional 25,000 - square feet of meeting space.
The new hotel will complement the two existing Hyatt hotels in the area.
The 511-room Hyatt Regency Denver located in the downtown business and
entertainment district caters to the individual business traveler, while
Hyatt Regency Tech Center with 450 rooms is the focal point Denver�s technological
center.

Praveen Chawla and Garry Friend Appointed
as GMs
CHICAGO - November 2000... Bernd Chorengel, president of
Hyatt International Corporation, is pleased to announce the appointment
of Praveen Chawla to general manager of Hyatt Regency Calcutta and Garry
Friend to general manager of Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh.
In his new role, Praveen Chawla will oversee operations
of the 250 - guestroom hotel scheduled to open in late 2001.
Prior to his appointment to general manager, Chawla served
on the pre-opening team for and as resident manager of Hyatt Regency Kathmandu.
In addition, he served as executive assistant manager - Rooms at Hyatt
Regency Guam, and held several posts in the Rooms division at Hyatt Regency
Delhi. He is a graduate of the University of Delhi and The Delhi Institute
of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition.
In his new role, Garry Friend will oversee operations
of the 433 - guestroom resort hotel located just north of Naama Bay on
the Red Sea.
Prior to his appointment to general manager, Friend held
the position of executive assistant manager - Food and Beverage at Hyatt
Regency Sharm El Sheikh, and served assignments on the pre-opening teams
for Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki and Grand Hyatt Amman. In addition, Friend
served as executive assistant manager - Food and Beverage at Hyatt Regency
Guatemala, and held posts in Food and Beverage in Melbourne, Canberra and
Adelaide. His career with Hyatt International began in January 1991 as
director of catering for Hyatt Regency Coolum. He is a graduate of the
College of Hospitality in Brisbane, Australia. |
