TV Internet & High-Speed Connectivity Solution for the Canadian Hotel Industry |
Toronto, Ontario April 13, 2000 - On Command
Canada and Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment Ltd. are pleased to announce
today the signing of a Canadian strategic alliance agreement that will
see Guest-Teks industry leading GlobalNetTM solution offered as a component
of On Commands integrated OCXTM, @Hotel.PC, and @Hotel.TV offerings.
This announcement follows the completion of the first integrated installation
at the Westin Grand Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Under the terms of the agreement, On Command - the worlds leading provider of in-room entertainment, information, and business services to the lodging industry will bundle Guest-Teks solution for high-speed internet access products, specifically for in-room laptop and PC internet access. This will complement the entertainment and business service products that On Command currently offers to Canadian hotels. The two companies will immediately begin to market the offering to On Commands 300 properties and 72,000 guestrooms across Canada. The high-speed connectivity solution, to be branded @Hotel.PC powered by GlobalNetTM , is tailored to service the business traveler. The solution allows for fast, convenient internet access for the business traveler without the need to reconfigure their computer. Once connected, the guest enjoys reliable, secure broadband internet access at speeds 100x those of comparable dial-up rates, while leaving the in-room phone available for normal voice connections. Furthermore, the GlobalNetTM solution is designed to integrate securely with hotel printers, external virtual private networks (VPNs), and hotel property management systems. States Arnon Levy, President of Guest-Tek, We are extremely excited to be teaming up with On Command Canada. As a technology provider, this agreement is a major endorsement of our ability to provide technology solutions for the mobile user community, and in particular of our commitment to fulfilling the continually expanded internet-based requirements for the business traveler. We expect to greatly benefit from On Commands market presence and leadership in the hospitality industry. Adds Anne Nicolson, Managing Director of On Command Canada, This agreement demonstrates On Commands commitment to sourcing the best technology for our hotel clients. We now offer hotels products that integrate information and entertainment sources through a single solution right to the hotel guest, whether they are working on a PC or a laptop or simply watching TV. As part of the agreement, Guest-Tek and On Command will provide the
guest with a customized gateway to an online portal tailored to service
the hotels guests with relevant information, services, and amenities.
