The National Business and Disability Council
Honors Caesars Atlantic City for Work with
Students with Disabilities

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Oct. 19, 1999 - Caesars World, Inc. announced today that its Caesars Atlantic City hotel and casino has received the 1999 Employer of the Year Silver Award of Honor by the National Business and Disability Council. Caesars Atlantic City earned this award for its participation in a work-study program with the Atlantic County Special Services School District (ACSSSD). Caesars Atlantic City will be the only gaming company recognized at the National Business and Disability Councils Annual Convention, which will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 1999 in Bellevue, Washington.

Caesars Atlantic Citys partnership with ACSSSD began in 1994. The purpose of the program is to provide students with disabilities, between the ages of 18 and 21, with the skills necessary for an easy transition into competitive employment upon graduation. Caesars Atlantic City becomes the classroom for these students for 20 hours per week, and traditional academics are replaced with training in life skills. Students learn financial management, how to take public transportation to work, people skills, and the importance of good attendance and maintaining a positive attitude.

On behalf of the entire Caesars World family, I would like to thank the National Business and Disability Council for bestowing upon Caesars Atlantic City the 1999 Employer of the Year Silver Award of Honor, said Peter G.  Boynton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Caesars World, Inc.  Caesars World, Inc. is a gaming industry leader because it maximizes the strength and potential of each employee, continued Boynton. This program is successful for us because we focus on the abilities and desire of the participants rather than on their perceived disabilities. Our program with the Atlantic County Special Services School District exemplifies what can be accomplished when you ask people what they can do, instead of what they cant.

Caesars Atlantic Citys efforts with the ACSSSD began in 1994, and are overseen by Jean Alexander, EEO/Affirmative Action Manager. In the past five years, 14 students graduated from Caesars Atlantic Citys program, and three more are scheduled to graduate this year.
Some of the jobs for which these students have been responsible include warehouse receiving clerk, pantry worker, casino promotions representative, employee wardrobe, human resources clerk, and employee mailroom.  Upon graduation, several of these students have obtained full-time employment at Caesars Atlantic City with positions such as a warehouse receiving clerk, food runner, senior front desk representative, marketing agent, employee wardrobe clerk, and hotel accounting clerk.

We are extremely proud of the efforts of Jean Alexander, Gene Clark, Vice President of Human Resources, and all those at our property who contribute to the success of our program with the Atlantic County Special Services School District, said Audrey S. Oswell, President and Chief Operating Officer of Caesars Atlantic City.  Congratulations to Caesars World, Inc., which has been selected to receive an Employer of the Year Silver Award of Honor, said Edmund L. Cortez, President and CEO of the National Business and Disability Council.  Through Caesars Atlantic Citys efforts in recruiting and training young people with disabilities and providing them with an opportunity to work on site, Caesars shares in our mission to provide equal opportunities for people with disabilities as valued employees and consumers.

Reading the nominations is always an inspiring experience for the judges, added Cortez. Deciding who wins these prestigious awards was especially difficult this year. Caesars should be proud of their program, as they have set a high standard for other employers to follow.
The ACSSSD encompasses students from all of Atlantic County who have special needs that cannot be met by their local school districts. The ACSSSD provides educational and related services to students from pre-kindergarten through age 21.
