Adding an $11 Million Addition to
The Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables

December,  1999 - The Conference Center of the Americas will open in June of 2000 at the Biltmore Hotel  in Coral Gables, Florida.  Eli White, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Seaway Hotel Affiliates, the parent company for the Biltmore, noted, The conference center will introduce an entirely different concept to new as well as existing customers to this South Florida National Historic Landmark .

The project is a joint effort between the City of Coral Cables, the hotel company and universities (primarily the University of Florida) who, with support from the State of Florida, will be providing most of the educational programming and instructional staffing.

The Confernce Center of the Americas is being developed to serve the needs of people desiring to learn how to conduct business in Latin America.  Corporate and Educational alliances have been formed with the CCA and will begin offering a wide array of programs in mid-2000.  High level government conferences, executive education courses and a variety of degree and non-degree courses will be available and delivered by universities such as the University of Florida, University of Miami, Florida International University  and several Latin American Universities.

The CCA will add 40,000 sq. feet to the Biltmores existing 34,000 bringing the total function space to 74,000 sq. feet.  Additionally, the hotel will be adding 12 new guest rooms to the facility.  As a part of the CCA addition, all guest rooms will be receiving two line telephones, high speed Internet connections, individual guest room computer work stations that will have connectivity to the CCA conference rooms for direct links.  The CCA will feature two newly constructed tiered theaters seating 60 and 90 people.  An additional 15 new rooms are being added to support the theaters.  The CCA will be equipped to offer a CMP plan with complete meeting services, Food and Beverages and guest room pricing components.  The entire facility is receiving approximately $11 million in development, construction and technology investment.

The Biltmore is a 280 room facility offering 34,000 sq.feet of function space, golf course, tennis facility, four restaurants and two lounges, the largest hotel pool in the continental US, and rises 300 feet above the city of Coral Gables, the city beautiful.

The pool at The Biltmore is almost as famous as theproperty itself. This crystalline beauty is considered the largest hotel pool in the Continental United States, holds over 600,000 gallons of  water and measures 22,000 square feet. In the early  years, the hotel hosted glamorous aquatic shows featuring such celebrities as Esther Williams and Johnny  "Tarzan" Weissmuller, who was a swimming instructor  for The Biltmore and also broke the world record in  this pool.
