for the Conrad® Miami
.
MIAMI, September 3, 2003 - Mari Garcia has been appointed director of sales and marketing for the new Conrad® Miami.  Garcia will be responsible for developing, directing and managing corporate, business travel and citywide convention sales and marketing efforts for the luxury hotel in Miamis financial district.

One of Garcias first tasks will be to build awareness and establish this newly built hotel on a local, national and international stage, in preparation for the Conrad Miamis opening in January 2004.  The hotels pre-opening office is anticipated to open in mid-September on Brickell Avenue, close to the actual hotel site in the architecturally stunning Espirito Santo Plaza complex.

Garcia began her hospitality career with the Hilton Caribbean regional sales office in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1985.  Since her beginnings with Hilton, she continued to pursue her hospitality sales and marketing career across South Florida with such well-known hotels as The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, the Mayfair House Hotel, the Cheeca Lodge, the Grand Bay Hotel and the Radisson Mart Plaza Hotel.  Garcias most recent position was director of sales and marketing for the Omni Colonnade Hotel in Coral Gables and the Savoy Hotel in Miami Beach.

A native of South Florida, who is bilingual in English and Spanish, Garcia received a bachelors degree in hotel administration from Cornell University.

The Conrad Miami's 319 rooms include 203 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and 116 exclusive, fully-furnished suite residences which offer one and two bedrooms, a professional kitchen and a stylish dining and living room overlooking Biscayne Bay.

With approximately 10,000 square feet of modern, technologically advanced convention and event facilities, the hotel will provide a fine selection of meeting venues from intimate, private boardrooms for ten people to a stylish ballroom that can host up to 700 guests.   A landscaped roof garden and health club, an upscale fine dining restaurant and a comfortable lounge provide a variety of ways to unwind at the end of a busy day.

With 15 luxury hotels in its collection, this first newly built Conrad property in North America joins The Waldorf Towers® in New York City and other luxury Conrad hotels and resorts located in capital cities and exotic resorts across Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
