   John Hogan Appointed Director, Education and
Cultural Diversity at Best Western

PHOENIX, June 9, 2003  - Best Western, has named John Hogan director of Education and Cultural Diversity.  The new post is an expanded role for Hogan who joined the company in April of 2000 as director of Education and Training.

Hogan will have oversight of promoting cultural diversity as a viable business strategy in a variety of operations and marketing initiatives.  These include education and training, purchasing, marketing programs, community service programs and establishing scholarships at minority colleges and universities.  Best Western is also an active member of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association.

"As a global hotel chain in more than 80 countries, by definition, Best Western is a culturally diverse organization," said Anupam Narayan, senior vice president of Global Brand Management and Chief Financial Officer.  "John's expanded role reinforces the importance Best Western places on cultural diversity," he adds. 

Hogan holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from the University of Northern Washington.  Hogan is a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) and a Master Hotel Supplier (MHS) and past recipient of the American Hotel & Lodging Association's Pearson Award for Excellence in Lodging Journalism.
