 American Skiing Company Names Herb Faulkenberry
Director of Sales and Marketing of The Steamboat
Grand Resort Hotel & Conference Center

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colorado, April 2, 2002 -- Herb Faulkenberry has been appointed the director of sales and marketing of The Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel & Conference Center.

Faulkenberry brings 15 years of hospitality industry experience to the upscale hotel, which opened in October 2000 and offers Steamboat Springs' most luxurious guest ambiance.

Prior to joining The Steamboat Grand, he was national director of sales for American Skiing Company (ASC), parent company to both The Steamboat Grand and the Steamboat Springs ski resort.  Newry, Maine-based ASC operates the Grand Summit Resort Hotels chain, which The Steamboat Grand is part of,  as well as alpine ski, snowboard and golf resorts throughout the United States, including the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. 

Faulkenberry's previous experience includes serving as director of resort sales, Mount Snow Resort, Mount Snow, Vermont;  director of resort sales & operations, Hidden Valley Resort, Hidden Valley, Pennsylvania;  and director of sales and marketing, Canaan Valley Resort, Davis, West Virginia.

From 1984 to 1988, he was an associate professor of business and marketing at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, where he was director of the specialty Snow Skiing Industry Program.
