� will abound at this year�s International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant
Show? (IH/M&RS), November 10-13, 2001, at New York City�s Jacob K.
Javits Convention Center.

IH/M&RS offers Show participants a range of cutting-edge technology
resources. These resources provide lodging and culinary professionals
the products, services, and insight needed to take their businesses successfully
into the 21st century,� said Christian Falkenberg, show manager.
Exhibits
Some 225 tech exhibitors, featuring a depth of products and services,
such as software, wireless products, locking systems, energy management
solutions, telecommunications and much more will be featured at the 2001
IH/M&RS. A sample of companies offering the latest technological
resources include Micros, Panasonic, PEPC Nederland BV, Purchase Pro, Vingcard
Elsafe, as well as newcomers Cybertotems, Green Suites International, Kenwood
Communications Corporation, and Sprint.
The IH/M&RS will also feature the �Technology Innovation Center,�
presented in cooperation with Hospitality Upgrade magazine. This
exhibit area will showcase some 20 companies offering cutting-edge wireless,
Internet and software resources.

IH/M&RS Advance Registration
Ends October 14, 2001
Sunday, October 14, 2001, is the last day to register for the 86th annual
International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show? (IH/M&RS) at the advance
registration rate of $20. This �early-bird� rate offers attendees
a 50% savings off the standard attendee registration fee, which is $40
per person.

The IH/M&RS website also offers
complete Show details, including an exhibitor list, floorplan, and a complete
schedule of educational programs, special events and Show activities.

materials, including the IH/M&RS Marketing Manual, Set-Up Manual, and
Directory Copy Form, are available on-line. Attendee benefits include
on-line registration, an exhibitor search, and scheduler, allowing attendees
to plan their time at the Show efficiently.
On-site during the Show, the IH/M&RS eBusiness Center will again
be available to Show participants. Located on the Show floor, the
eBusiness Center provides IH/M&RS participants with complimentary e-mail
and Internet access.
Educational Programs
Six technology-related educational programs will be presented at the
2001 IH/M&RS. The seminars will address such topics as technology
in 2001, e-business, wireless technology, data mining, the network kitchen,
and technological advances in the lodging industry.
More than 30 educational programs will be offered to Show participants,
covering a variety of topics for lodging and culinary professionals.
Attendance is free for Show participants; however, an IH/M&RS badge

Technology 2001: What Happened?

The technology crash affected every aspect of the hospitality industry:
in-room Internet access, e-procurement, on time reservations, etc.
This panel will try to answer the questions �What did we do right?� �What
did we do wrong?� �What happened?� and most importantly, �Where do
we go from here?� The program will be moderated by Stacy Silver,
Group Publisher, Hotel Journal. Panelists are: Mark Haley, president,
High Touch Technologies; Scott Anderson, president & CEO, SWAN, Inc.;
and Dwayne E. Ingram, Industry Practice Executive, Travel & Transportation,

A panel of experts from the E-Business Committee of AH&LA will
address ways in which hoteliers embrace the Internet and E-Business in
their day-to-day business operations. They will provide useful insights
into the types of technology investments available and share common approaches
to measuring return on E-Business investments (ROI). The program will be
moderated by Richard J. Jackson, vice-president and CIO, American Hotel

and what is next? The program will be moderated by Richard Siegel, president
& publisher, Hospitality Upgrade magazine.
Realizing the Potential of Customer Relationship
Management and Data Mining
Monday, November 12, 10:30 a.m. � 12:00 Noon
Data mining and customer relationship management is being pursued throughout
the lodging industry to achieve the promise of one-on-one marketing, which
up to now has remained largely unfulfilled. This session will address
the obstacles that must be overcome to achieve that objective and discuss
how and when marketing personalization likely will be achieved. The program
will be moderated by John Paul Nichols, executive vice-president, Cendant
Corporation.

A Glimpse of the Hotel of the Future from a

Monday, November 12, 2:30 p.m. � 4:00 p.m.
Attendees at this session will have an opportunity to get a glimpse
at the look and feel of what a hotel in the early part of the 21st century.
The presenters will compare the responses of attendees at this year�s HITEC
conference produced by Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals
against the results of an HFTP commissioned poll, which asked independent
travelers the same questions. Finally, the implications of the opinions
of those two different constituencies will be analyzed with the audience.
The program will be moderated by Frank I. Wolfe, executive vice-president/CEO,
Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals. Panelists are:
John J. Cahill, CHTP, CHA, CIO, Manhattan East Suite Hotels; and Jules
Sieburgh, CTO, Host Marriott International.
The 86th annual IH/M&RS will be held Saturday, November 10, through
Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at New York City�s Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center. The show will feature more than 1,900 hospitality industry
suppliers and attracts approximately 58,000 in total trade attendance.
