HSMAI Al Bard Award |
WASHINGTON, DC (Nov. 14, 2001) The Hospitality Sales & Marketing
Association International (HSMAI) presented the 2001 Al Bard Award to Nora
Conway, project manager, Interactive Marketing at Irma S. Mann, Strategic
Marketing, Inc. (ISM).
This distinguished award recognizes an individuals contributions made on behalf of the HSMAI Adrian Advertising, Golden Bell Public Relations Awards and Golden Click Web International Travel Awards Competition. The winners of this years competition will be announced at the Annual HSMAI Awards Dinner to be held in New York at the Marriott Marquis on Jan. 29, 2002. Conway, the youngest individual to win the award, joins 14 past recipients who have received this prestigious honor since its inception in 1986. During Conways three years with ISM, she has been actively involved with HSMAI and the Awards Committee. Conway manages the design and development of advertising and marketing materials related to the HSMAI awards competition and dinner, and she has assisted in managing the judging over the past several years. Furthermore, she helped expand the scope of the awards dinner with the creation of the Golden Click Web Awards, which were launched in 2000. The Golden Click Web Awards honor excellence in websites for the hospitality and tourism industries; entries are accepted online via the HSMAI website and are then judged by an online judging system. Currently, Conway is a project manager in ISMs Interactive Marketing
department and works on such accounts as the Nassau/Paradise Island Promotion
Board, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Sonesta Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels,
Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, Hotel Bel Air and Partnerships
for Quality Education (Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare).
Before that, she worked for the Providence Childrens Museum as a marketing and public relations associate. There, she developed marketing and promotion programs and headed up their website marketing and development efforts. Conway graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1997, and was certified in Web Production & Management from Emerson College in 1998. The success of HSMAI is a result of the many individuals who have spent tireless hours and energy working on its behalf, states Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI. By acknowledging their contributions, we can pay tribute to their efforts and accomplishments, and hopefully encourage others to make similar commitments to their careers, the industry and to HSMAI, he adds. HSMAI is an organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry. With a strong focus on education, HSMAI has become the industry champion in identifying and communicating trends in the hospitality industry while operating as a leading voice for both hospitality and sales and marketing management disciplines. Founded in 1927, HSMAI is an individual membership organization comprised of over 5,000 members from 35 countries and 60 chapters worldwide. |
