Starwood Names Three New Vice Presidents for 
Corporate Office at White Plains, New York

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Nov. 20, 2001

Sharon Rothstein Named Senior Vice President, Global Brand Marketing 

A seasoned brand marketing veteran with more than 15 years of experience with a number of brand powerhouse organizations, including Procter & Gamble and Nabisco, has been tapped by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) to head its newly formed Global Marketing Division. 

Sharon Rothstein has been named senior vice president, Global Brand Marketing, and will be responsible for developing the global brand positioning and market strategies for Starwood�s brands including Westin, Sheraton, Four Points by Sheraton, The Luxury Collection, St. Regis, W and Starwood Vacation Ownership. Rothstein will report to Bob Cotter, the company�s chief operating officer. She will also be a member of Starwood�s Senior Operating Committee, comprised of the company�s top executives. 

Rothstein and her team are charged with developing brand strategies for Starwood�s six hotel brands, and ensuring that each brand�s positioning is well reflected in all marketing and advertising activities as well as hotel design and standards. According to Cotter, Starwood�s Global Brand Marketing group will fully participate in the design of all products for each brand including guest rooms, public space, food and beverage outlets, recreation facilities, spas, meeting rooms and other facilities. This oversight will extend to the marketing plans and execution by Starwood Vacation Ownership for its branded vacation ownership resorts. 

�Sharon�s strong brand marketing background coupled with her operating experience make her an outstanding choice to define our brands, and ensure that our brand messages are translated into every nuance of the guest experience� from the aesthetics of our ad campaigns to our reservations procedures to the furniture in our guestrooms to the menus in our restaurants,� said Cotter. �We believe that Sharon is filling a vital role that is not unique to many businesses, but has been a void in the hotel industry.� 

Reporting to Rothstein in her new role are Starwood�s Creative Services, Brand Marketing, Advertising and Brand Research teams. 

Most recently, Rothstein served as vice president, brand marketing for Starwood�s STARS division, a wholly owned subsidiary of Starwood that is responsible for the adoption and implementation of new technologies across every aspect of Starwood�s business. Before joining Starwood, she served as chief executive officer of Worldspy.com, where she directed and launched Worldspy.com the first e-commerce supported, free Internet Service Provider.  Rothstein also spent 13 years with Procter & Gamble and the Nabisco Biscuit Company. During her tenure at Nabisco, Rothstein was responsible for many different brand and product management assignments including vice president of Savory Snacks Business Unit, as well as vice president of New Business. 

Sharon holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles. She lives in Ridgewood, New Jersey with her husband and children. She will be based at Starwood�s World Headquarters in White Plains, New York. 

Dene Rogers Named Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning

In his new role, Rogers is responsible for leading Starwood�s strategic planning process and the development of a strategic business plan to guide the company�s operating decisions in the coming years. Rogers will also serve as a member of the company�s senior operating committee. He will report to Barry S. Sternlicht, Starwood�s Chairman and CEO. 

Rogers joins Starwood from GE Capital Corporation where he was a senior vice president of business development.  Prior to his tenure with GE Capital, Rogers was with Booz Allen & Hamilton, an international management consulting firm. Prior to this, he ran his own energy consulting firm in Japan. He is a graduate of Yale University and is originally from Perth, Australia.

Rogers will be based at Starwood�s corporate office in White Plains, NY and resides in Cos Cob, Connecticut with his family. 

David Matheson Named Vice President, Investor Relations

Matheson will be responsible for developing and executing all aspects of Starwood�s investor relations program targeted to shareholders, analysts and the investment community. He will report to F. Daniel Gibson, the company�s senior vice president of corporate affairs. 

A seasoned veteran, Matheson brings to his new role more than 14 years of hospitality and investor relations experience. He most recently served as vice president of public relations for Starwood Vacation Ownership Inc., a division of Starwood and the hospitality industry�s second largest vacation ownership developer. Before joining Starwood, Matheson managed public relations and investor relations for Vistana prior to Starwood�s acquisition of the company in October 1999. Prior to this, Matheson served as vice president of communications for the American Resort Development Association in Washington, D.C. 

�Dave�s success in leading the public relations efforts for Starwood Vacation Ownership, paired with his experience in the investor relations arena make him the perfect choice,� says Gibson. �His strong relationships within both industries including real estate developers, portfolio investors, and key hospitality insiders will play an important role in Starwood�s investor relations strategy.� 

Matheson is chairman of the public relations committee for the American Resort Development Association, sits on the Board of Directors for Orlando�s Healthcare Center for the Homeless and is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute. 

A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a BA in journalism, Matheson is based out of Starwood�s corporate headquarters located in White Plains, and resides in Connecticut with his wife and three children.
