 The Ysrael Family Appoint Outrigger to Manage
Two Guam Hotels; Will Join OHANA Hotels Brand

;

HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII -August 21, 2001 -  Honolulu-based Outrigger Enterprises, Inc., is continuing its effort to expand and enhance its inventory of properties under the OHANA Hotels brand by announcing the first OHANA properties outside the state of Hawaii.

Effective October 1, the company will assume the management of the Regency Hotel Guam and the Hotel Sunroute Guam, both at Tumon Bay in on Guam.
"This is a much celebrated milestone for OHANA Hotels," said Perry Sorenson, chief operating officer of Outrigger Hotels & Resorts. "In less than two years, we've successfully established the OHANA brand as a leader in the marketplace and have continually improved and expanded our inventory from Waikiki to the Neighbor Islands and now Guam."

The Hotel Sunroute is a 187-room, full service hotel and condominium resort comprised of standard hotel rooms and two-bedroom units with ocean views.  Other amenities include two restaurants and easy access to shopping and beachfront activities. The property will be renamed the OHANA Oceanview Guam.

The 126-room Regency Hotel Guam will close October 1 to undergo a $3 million property-wide renovation. The property will re-open May 31, 2002, as the OHANA Bayview Guam with fully refurbished rooms, public areas and a new restaurant.

Both properties are owned by the Ysrael family, who also own a variety of real estate interests throughout the island, including the Outrigger Guam Resort, one of the premiere beachfront resorts on the island. Other interests owned by the Ysraels include retail, restaurant, business, medical, and residential properties throughout Guam, including The Plaza, a shopping and entertainment complex that is home of the Hard Rock Café, El Portal, Guess and dozens of other shops and restaurants.

"We have a lot of confidence in Outrigger and OHANA Hotels," said Michael Ysrael, general manager of Tanota Hotels, which owns the OHANA properties.  "Outrigger has proven to be a good partner in managing our existing resort here. It was a very logical move for us to expand our relationship to the OHANA brand and create some synergy in the marketplace. We plan on using the strength of the OHANA brand and their sales network to make our new updated properties as successful as the Outrigger Guam Resort."

Outrigger Enterprises first entered the Guam market in 1999 with the 600-room Outrigger Guam Resort, which today is one of the top performing properties in the company's chain.

With the addition of the two new properties in Guam, a total of 18 properties operate under the OHANA brand, widely popular with families, travel agents, and tour operators for affordably-priced accommodations.  Earlier this year, two other properties were added to the brand -- the OHANA Maui Islander and the OHANA Keauhou Beach Resort on the Big Island.

"Our recent additions reinforce our commitment to enhance the inventory of properties within the OHANA hotels brand," Sorenson said. "This strengthens our position in the market place by offering a greater variety of locations, products, and prices for our customers."

Last month, the company announced a dramatic $300 million redevelopment plan in Waikiki that will modernize and further enhance several OHANA properties.  In 2003, the first phase of the Waikiki Beach Walk project calls for the demolition of the two oldest OHANA hotels along Lewers Street, a busy Waikiki thoroughfare, which will be replaced with a plaza of shops, restaurants and gardens.

Outrigger Enterprises is the largest lodging company in Hawaii and one of the fastest-growing lodging companies in the Pacific. Under its Outrigger and OHANA brand names, the company currently operates or has under development 41 hotels and resort condominiums throughout the Pacific region, representing nearly 12,000 guest rooms in Hawaii, Micronesia, Australia and the South Pacific. Outrigger's affiliate, Outrigger Lodging Services, manages nearly two dozen hotels and resorts throughout the U.S. mainland.
