CHA Marketplace 2002
January 13-15, 2002
Moon Palace Resort,
Cancún, Mexico

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Aug. 29, 2001) The Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA) has enhanced the CHA Marketplace 2002 convention with five new features that are designed to provide a better experience for conference delegates.  Experience the benefits of these improvements at CHA Marketplace 2002, which will be held Jan. 13-15, 2002 at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancún, Mexico.

The new features for this years conference include:

The Option of an All-Inclusive CHA Marketplace Delegates staying at either the Moon Palace Resort (the conferences headquarters hotel and event site) or the Cancún Palace Resort (with free shuttle service to Moon Palace) will receive accommodations; all taxes and gratuities; roundtrip airport transfers; all meals and snacks; unlimited drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic); nightly entertainment; and use of the health club and all other hotel facilities.
Business Floor On One Level -- CHA Marketplace will be very buyer-friendly because all supplier booths will be on one level at the new Exhibition Center at the Moon Palace Resort.  In this way, buyers will be able to move to their appointments in a more timely fashion.
New Buyer Categories Means More Qualified Buyers For the first time, incentive buyers, meeting planners, group buyers and dive shop owners will be invited to CHA Marketplace 2002.  This will provide suppliers with more business appointments.
Small Hotels and Booth Sharing -- Qualified CHA small hotels (75 rooms or less) will be able to share a booth for a special rate.  Each small hotel sharing a booth will be able to schedule up to 42 appointments (which is the same amount designated to individual booths).
Electronic Delegate Directory -- The delegate directory will be available to all registered delegates in an electronic format soon after the close of the printed directory.  This will be updated on a weekly basis.  The electronic directory enables delegates to view up-to-date listings of buyers and suppliers for easier appointment selections.

CHA is offering a rate of $250 per person for buyer registration which includes pre-scheduled appointments, company profile in the Official Delegate Directory, company profile posted on the CHA Marketplace website, one copy of the Official Delegate Directory, a faxed copy of pre-scheduled appointments prior to the conference, entrance to all business and social functions, shuttle bus service between host hotels and the CHA Marketplace venue, and roundtrip airport-hotel transfers.

All CHA members in good financial standing with CHA, CHARMS, Gold Book and CHA subsidiaries are eligible to register for CHA Marketplace.  Early bird registration for suppliers is US$295 per person and is valid until Sept. 14,2001.  After this date, the supplier delegate registration fee is US$395.  The registration fee includes pre-scheduled appointments for the appointment-taking delegate, company profile in the Official Delegate Directory (must be submitted before directory closure), company profile posted on the CHA Marketplace website, one copy of the Official Delegate Directory, a faxed copy of pre-scheduled appointments, entrance to all official business and social functions, shuttle transportation from host hotels, and roundtrip airport-hotel transfers.  Prices for booth rentals range from $500 - $1,800 per booth.

Hotel accommodations are NOT included in the registration fee for buyers and suppliers.

CHA inaugurated CHA Marketplace in 1980 in order to provide its members with an international forum for conducting negotiations in a business environment with scheduled appointments.  At CHA Marketplace, CHA members have the opportunity at CHA Marketplace to meet, discuss and contract for future business with international buyers from around the world. Celebrating its 22nd anniversary in January 2002, CHA Marketplace is recognized as the most important tourism marketing event of the year for the Caribbean region. The event brings together approximately 400 Caribbean tourism suppliers from the 36 national associations that are members of CHA to meet with qualified international buyers from approximately 35 countries around the world.

International buyers are invited to attend CHA Marketplace based on their proven capability or potential to sell the Caribbean as a destination.  The CHA International Buyer Screening Committees, supervised by CHA, qualify and approve the buyers.
