 Maarten P. Drenth Named Director of Food and Beverage 
for the Hotel Inter-Continental Miami

 
MIAMI (MAY 14, 2001) � Maarten P. Drenth, an alumnus of the renowned Hotel School The Hague in the Netherlands, has been named Director of Food and Beverage for the Hotel Inter-Continental Miami.  The announcement was made by Frederik de Roode, Regional Vice President Operations Southeast/Vice President and General Manager, Hotel Inter-Continental Miami. 
 
Drenth, a hotel administrator with more than ten years of international experience, will oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the hotel�s dynamic Food and Beverage department.  His duties include supervision of the hotel�s kitchens, stewarding, Room Service, Mini Bars, Blue Water Café, the award-winning Indigo Restaurant & Bar, Miami Deli Center, convention services and all banquet facilities.

�Maarten is a highly experienced professional who has managed food and beverage operations in Europe and the U.S,� said de Roode.  �He returns to Miami after having served as Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at this property in the mid 90s.  We welcome him back, and are pleased to have him re-join our staff.�  

Drenth is a veteran of the Inter-Continental Hotel chain, most recently serving as Director of Food and Beverage for the Willard Inter-Continental in Washington, D.C.  His responsibilities there included supervising nine departments as well as The Willard Room � a four-diamond, fine dining restaurant � as well as all catering and banquet facilities. 

His accomplishments at the Willard included refurbishment of The Willard Room restaurant and renovation of the hotel�s Café 1401, improving profitability, and increasing overall guest and employee satisfaction ratings. He also launched the Willard on the Town outside catering service.

Previously, Drenth served as the Director of Food and Beverage for the Hotel Inter-Continental in Stuttgart Germany. Prior to that, he was employed in rapidly ascending positions with the Hotel Inter-Continental Miami from 1989 to 1996.

Drenth is fluent in English, Dutch, Spanish and German, and French. He holds a bachelor�s degree in hotel administration from Hotel School The Hague, Institute for Hospitality Management in The Netherlands.

The 639-room Hotel Inter-Continental Miami is located on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami. The landmark property offers more than 65,000 square feet of meeting, exhibition and banquet space, totaling 27 rooms. It can accommodate 900 people for conferences, 2,700 for receptions and 1,200 for banquets.
