  • First Quarter 2001 Consolidated Sales Up: +10.5% to EUR 1,652 million
Accor consolidated sales amounted to EUR 1,652 million for the first quarter of 2001 as compared to EUR 1,496 million for the first quarter of 2000, up +10,5%. This rise reflects an increase in existing activities of +6.5% and a contribution from business development of +5.9%. Excluding asset disposals (Courtepaille), sales were up +13.3%.

The increase of +10.5% on a published basis breaks down as follows: 

  • growth of existing activities: + 6.5%
  • business development: + 5.9%
  • currency impact: + 0.8%
  • asset disposals: - 2.8%


Hotels : +14.1%

Hotel activities grew by +14.1% to EUR 1,122 million for the first quarter of 2001, reflecting a +5.5% increase at existing units as well as a +7.6% growth from new business development and a +1.6% positive impact of foreign currency fluctuations.

Accor benefits from its European leadership and presence across all market segments. First quarter 2001 consolidated sales rose by +15.7% in business and leisure, by +14.2% in the economy segment and by +11.0% in the US economy segment (+4.1% excluding foreign currency fluctuations).

Services : +18,7%

Revenues from Services rose by +18.7%, reflecting a +17.4% strong increase in existing activites on a like-for-like basis. Activity is thriving in countries where Accor has a long-term presence (France +17.3%, Italy +13.6%, Mexico +14.2%) as well as in new markets such as Romania and Venezuela�

travel management : +3,1%

casinos : +28,8% (+11,1% on a like-for-like basis).

restaurants and catering : -8,9% (+6,1% excluding disposal of Courtepaille).

onboard train services : -15,5% (+8,1% on a like-for-like basis)
