The Montenegro Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference Succeeded in Getting World Wide Interest in 
the Montenegro Tourist Supply

NEWPORT BEACH, California ---June 7, 2001 -  �The Montenegro Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference was a great success�, declared Mr. Vladimir Mitrovic, Minister of Tourism for the Republic of Montenegro.  The Conference was held May 16-18, 2001 at the world-renowned Spa Center-Institute Igalo, in Herceg-Novi, Montenegro.  The goals of the event included introducing the international hotel and tourism investment community to the process of privatization of hotels and resorts in Montenegro and presenting the government�s plan for economic development and restructuring.  Conference delegates were presented with detailed information about 36 hotel investment opportunities in Montenegro and personally toured through available project sites. 
 
Minister Mitrovic stated, �After a difficult ten-year period for Montenegro tourism, we succeeded in animating the world to get interested in the Montenegro tourist supply.  Twenty-two countries were represented at the international event, with over 200 delegates in attendance over the 3-day event.�  

Minister Mitrovic further explained, �The active participation in the Conference of the Prime Minister and President of the Republic of Montenegro indicates the seriousness with which the Conference

was organized�.  Prime Minister Filip Vujanovic personally invited the delegates to attend the event and also personally addressed the delegates in the opening session on May 17.  President Milo Djukanovic hosted the Conference attendees at a gala dinner held on the closing night of the Conference at the beautiful Sveti Stefan Hotel.

The Master Plan for Tourism, prepared by Deutsche Investitions and Entwicklungsgellschaft mbH (D.E.G.) was presented at the conference.  The study concluded that Montenegro has excellent potential to become an �upscale� Mediterranean destination.  

The complete legal infrastructure was presented at the conference. Minister Mitrovic explained "The foreign investor is equal with the home investor in all areas, with provisions and incentive measures which at some points are more liberal then they are in some countries of the EU.�  It is expected that a number of investors will proceed to become involved with the Montenegro hotel industry partly as a result of this conference.
