Resort & Spa, Elected As Chairman of the International Resort Managers Association |
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (June 2001) -- Craig Madison, Vice President and General
Manager of The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa here, has been elected to
serve as the first Chairman of the International Resort Managers Association
(IRMA).
�Craig not only brings a wealth of experience to this position, but also a sincere interest in furthering education, networking and professional development opportunities for everyone in the resort industry. His interest and enthusiasm for the unique aspects of this segment of the hospitality industry will be a tremendous asset in this leadership position,� said Anita Bauer, IRMA Executive Vice President. Madison was appointed General Manager of The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in September 1999. Since that time, he has been executing the vision of hotel owner Elaine D. Sammons for the Resort in the 21st Century. He is currently overseeing three-year, $64 million property improvement program that includes a $40 million, 40,000 square-foot spa and restoration of the resort�s century-old, Donald Ross-designed golf course. In addition to his latest appointment, Madison is Vice Chairman of the North Carolina Hotel & Motel Association, a Board Member of the North Carolina Travel & Tourism Coalition and on the Board of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. The International Resort Managers Association, founded in 2000, provides networking and educational resources, certification, testing, distance learning, job placement services and other tools needed by resort managers worldwide.
