Industry Veteran Richard Holtzman Joins
Bacara Resort & Spa as Managing Director

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., April 18, 2001 - The ADCO Group, owner of Bacara Resort & Spa, has announced that veteran hotelier Richard A. Holtzman has joined the resort's management company as a principal Managing Director.

In this capacity he is charged with leading Bacara through its next phase of development and with creating strategies for maintaining the resort's high service standards and reputation worldwide.

"We have known and respected Dick Holtzman for many years," said Alvin Dworman, chairman of the ADCO Group.  "He is a consummate hotelier who truly
understands the challenges of independent resorts and we are pleased with his
decision to play a principal role in the ongoing success of Bacara."

With over 25 years of experience, Richard A. Holtzman earned credentials as a founding partner of Carefree Resorts, elevating the image and the occupancy of its luxury properties including The Boulders in Carefree, Arizona, where he was the opening general manager.  Through his foresight, Carefree Resorts made one of the company's most significant investments, acquiring Golden Door spas -- the venerable destination spa's first venture outside of its California base.  Holtzman's efforts were recognized in 1995, when he became the youngest winner of Hotels' "Independent Hotelier of the World" award.

Commenting on his association with Bacara, Holtzman stated, "Bacara is one
of the great independent resort projects of the last two decades, and I'm excited to be a part of it.  It has a world-class team that I'm looking forward to working with."

Covering 78 beachfront acres and featuring 360 luxury accommodations and specialty suites, Bacara Resort & Spa is nestled upon the bluffs between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountain Range, five minutes from the Santa Barbara Airport.  The incomparable resort boasts a 42,000-square foot luxury spa with 36 treatment rooms, three restaurants, including the signature Miro, championship golf and tennis, and a two-mile white sand beach with an array of water sports.  Other features of this stunning resort include four exclusive retail shops and 25,500 square feet of social and meeting space, inclusive of a dedicated high-tech executive conference center and private 220-seat screening room.  Guests may also take advantage of hiking and other recreational activities at the 1,000-acre Ranch at Bacara, located adjacent to the resort.

Among its awards and kudos, Interior Design Magazine named Bacara "Best New Spa" (January, 2001 issue) and Conde Nast Traveler put Bacara on its "Hot Destinations" list (April, 2001 issue).

A member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Bacara Resort & Spa is
located at 8301 Hollister Avenue, Santa Barbara.
