New Yorks Hotel Pennsylvania Undergoing
Extensive Renovation Program

NEW YORK, April 2, 2001 - New Yorks Hotel Pennsylvania announced today the completion of the first phase of their renovation program.  The hotel, one of the citys legendary properties, and among the four largest, has completely rebuilt the lobby, elevators, and is in the process of a floor-by-floor makeover.  Half of the main elevator bank has been completely replaced, with the remaining portion coming on-line shortly.

By any standard this is a substantial project.  Our goal is to ensure that we retain our character, while modernizing facilities to meet the needs of the business traveler, said Steve Leonard, the Hotels director of sales and marketing.

Longtime a favorite destination of travelers world-over, New Yorks Hotel Pennsylvania features over 1700 rooms with an ideal, midtown location opposite Madison Square Garden and Amtraks Penn Station.

The results of this renovation can be easily seen on the propertys remodeled floors, where stunning lobby carpeting leads to rooms filled with tasteful furniture and all-new soft goods.  CMS Design Inc., a Manhattan based design firm has been charged with the overall project coordination.  In keeping with todays trends, weve selected a combination of both classical and contemporary furnishings, all designed to enhance our guests stay, noted Chris Smith, a principal of CMS.

As the first phase of the renovation is completed, subsequent phases will see the renovations extended to remaining floors.

Since 1919, New Yorks Hotel Pennsylvania has been host to literally
millions of visitors to Manhattan.  With 1700 rooms, and over 70,000 square
feet of meeting and exhibit space the property is capable of handling
conventions, tours and individual traveler requirements.  Its location on 7th
Avenue at 33rd Street is convenient to the business and the fashion districts,
as well as the Javits Center.  The property is known for having the
longest-running telephone number, which prompted Glenn Millers famous song
Pennsylvania 6-5000.
