A Technological Breakthrough; TESA Entry Systems
Opens Doors with Bluetooth Technology

April 3, 2001 Atlanta based TESA Entry Systems and Registry Magic based in Boca Raton agreed to further explore the development of access control applications for the hospitality industry using Bluetooth technology.

This follows the successful debut of this technological breakthrough in electronic locking systems showcased at the Holiday Inn Wall Street in February.  Utilizing state-of-the-art WAP Bluetooth enabled cell phones provided by Ericsson and Motorola and leading hospitality access solutions from TESA Entry Systems, Registry Magic hosted demonstrations for the media at the Holiday Inn Wall Street.

During the press conference, held in conjunction with the Internet World Wireless Show, the Bluetooth enabled cellular phones communicating directly with TESA Entry Systems electronic locks were used to provide access to guestrooms.

Bluetooth technology utilizes short range radio signals to transmit information between devices ranging from cellular phones to electronic locks.

Guests with a Bluetooth enabled device can enter the hotel and be instantly recognized by the property management system (PMS).  The reservation is automatically confirmed and check-in is completed without having to stand in line at the front desk.  As the guest approaches the room, they use the cell phone to signal the TESA ESI e-lock to open the door.  Checkout is just as simple.  In addition, the Bluetooth enabled device can encompass a vast range of wireless applications from purchasing an item from a vending machine to tracking loyalty programs and payment processing.

With over 1.8 million e-locks in service around the globe, TESA Entry Systems consistently provides its customers the most advanced solutions in electronic locking systems.  The Bluetooth access application works in conjunction with other open platform technologies such as multi application Smart cards.  The future development of Bluetooth technology for the hospitality industry could provide a valuable customer service enhancement to complement TESA Entry Systems Smart card operated locks, stated Pascal Metivier, VP of Global Sales and Marketing for TESA Entry Systems. While proving the ability to utilize advanced technologies, TESA Entry Systems remains committed to offering customers the most reliable electronic locking solutions available.
