Why Full Service & Luxury Independent Hoteliers Are Going ‘All In’ on All-in-One Tech
Warren Dehan | September 12, 2023
All-in-one PMS technology has evolved to encompass nearly every aspect of hotel operations, leveling the playing field for independents across the industry By Warren Dehan Independent luxury and full service hotel and resort groups are not willing to settle for less regarding operations technology. Still, their search for the best tools for the job has left many operators bogged down in complexity as they manage too many disparate systems at once. No hotelier can circumvent the rising complexity of operations today, but independents need more time and support to navigate these challenges and remain profitable. Rather than seeking indivi...

No wonder the US is the world’s largest tourism market and its third most visited destination. Even after 3 years of pandemic shutdowns and restrictions, hospitality entrepreneurs remain resilient. Due to increasing consumer demand, many are expecting 2023 to be their best year yet. The market remains dy...

Warren Dehan | December 13, 2022
By Warren Dehan The right team will encompass nimble reactions, personal support, and reliability; These traits will ensure the PMS vendor speaks hoteliers’ language and comes to the table with their own ideas to help meet operational goals Finding a high-quality technology partner may not get easier for independent hoteliers in the new year. Boutique Hotel Association (BLLA) Addresses the Importance of Keeping Boutique Hotel Properties as Independent Hotels
Frances Kiradjian | December 8, 2022
By Frances Kiradjian The impressive spirit of wisdom and leadership that exists around the world to remain independent is alive and well and being celebrated consistently With the recent announcement of Hyatt purchasing Dream Hotels, this is the exact moment to reflect on big chains buying out smaller boutique brands. It may be a good move for the owner of the Dream brand, who has spent many years building up the brand value while keeping ownership of the assets at bay [as each property is owned by others, with just a few exceptions]. Hyatt is also gaining a lifestyle group of properties to add to its portfolio. While this may be a good...

Magnuson Hotels | September 23, 2022
In a presentation to the UK House of Lords last June, we raised the alarm that the UK independent hotelier share of market was declining rapidly, falling from 78% in 2010 to a projected 22% by 2026. Meanwhile in the USA, independent hotel market share has declined from 67% of the USA’s 55,000 hotels in 2003 to less than 40% of US hotels today. So how did we get here? Rapid supply growth via brands and Airbnb. From 2008-2010, the USA hotel supply grew by 17.5%, largely driven by IHG new builds.
