The Miami Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Miami), Greater Miami & The Beaches Hotel Association (GMBHA), and Oberhausen Marketing & Public Relations announced the winners of the 2019 Miami Hospitality Design Awards on Wednesday, April 3, during a celebration at the luxurious The Miami Beach EDITION hotel.

With more than 170 architecture, design, hotel and restaurant professionals in attendance, the awards honored the hoteliers, licensed architects and designers whose creativity and extraordinary venues have elevated Miami’s hospitality industry and consumer experiences.

“This year we had a 25 percent increase in submissions compared to 2017,” said Executive Vice President, AIA Miami, Cheryl Jacobs. “We are so proud of all our deserving winners and the support provided to our architecture and design community.”

“Through our support and that of AIA Miami, GMBHA, and Hospitality Design magazine, the awards continue to recognize the world-class hospitality venues that are entering our vibrant market,” said President, Oberhausen Marketing & Public Relations, Josh Oberhausen. “We had a great turnout and look forward to welcoming more new and exciting venues.”

During the event, the Miami Beach Convention Center was presented a Special Recognition Award for an incredible project that will boost Miami’s hospitality and tourism community. The City of Miami Beach, Arquitectonica and Fentress Architects were all recognized.

“The completion of the Miami Beach Convention Center’s renovation will be a tremendous economic driver for our area. It was an honor to recognize the team’s work, as well as our winners during a sold-out event,” said President and CEO, GMBHA, Wendy Kallergis.

Sponsors for the event included IIDA South Florida Chapter, Coverings, and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.
