Oct. 09–OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — Mary and Jim Normand of Oak Ridge recently helped christen the opening of the TownePlace Suites by Marriott at South Rutgers Avenue.

The Normands were recognized as the hotel's first two honorary guests and were given the royal treatment as developer and owner Chander Bhateja, general manager Alan Martin and assistant general manager Emilie Flesher gave the couple The Grand Tour.

An earlier release regarding the TownePlace Suites by Marriott Oak Ridge's opening stated it is ideal for travelers who need accommodations for longer stays. This new property offers studio and one-bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens, as well as separate living/working and sleeping areas.

"Guests can work and relax on their own terms in modern suites that feature full kitchens with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, adjustable work spaces with built-in shelves and lighting, and a large flat-screen television as well as 'luxurious new bedding,'" the recent release stated.

The TownePlace Suites by Marriott Oak Ridge also allow guests "to maintain a healthy lifestyle with an array of food options."

While on-property, guests can create their own complimentary hot breakfast every morning in the lobby area (which like other parts of the hotel is decorated with colorful photos of the Oak Ridge area and local interests), the release added.

Particularly impressive is the large outdoor Weber grill in the patio/pool area and the exercise room loaded with plenty of modern equipment. For more information, call 409-5059.
