SNOWMASS, CO – April 14, 2022 – Viewline Resort Snowmass, a newly renovated mid-mountain resort in the heart of Colorado’s Snowmass Village, announces the appointment of Craig Waterman as complex general manager and John Hearns as director of operations. A 36-year veteran in the hospitality industry, Waterman oversees all daily operations at Viewline Resort Snowmass, Wildwood Snowmass, and Viewline Event Center, while Hearns brings vast industry knowledge to his role managing the food and beverage teams at Stark’s Alpine Grill, First Chair, and Last Chair, as well as spa services and guest programming.

“Craig and John together bring a great deal of valuable experience in hospitality operations and resort openings to their respective roles, and we’re excited to have them both join our team,” said Complex Director of Sales and Marketing Vince Vito. “With these two talented additions to our executive team, Viewline Resort Snowmass is undoubtably set-up for success as we close our first winter season and prepare to welcome guests for the exciting summer season and beyond.”

Waterman is a graduate of the University of California and launched his career with leading brands across the U.S., such as Starwood Hospitality, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, and more, with a focus on luxury mountainside and waterfront resorts. Familiar with the intermountain west, Waterman has substantial experience in property renovations and re-openings in Colorado and beyond.

In his previous experience, he served as general manager at Snow King Resort & Grandview Residences in Jackson Hole, overseeing the property’s $15 million renovation in 2013. He also served as vice president of opening and transitions for Two Roads Hospitality, where he oversaw several projects, including the renovation and re-launch of El San Juan Hotel in Puerto Rico in 2018 following the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. As managing director at Parker New York, Waterman was instrumental in the renovation and re-launch of Thompson Central Park in 2021. In his most recent role as general manager with Davidson Hospitality Group, Waterman led the reopening of BEI San Francisco in early 2022.

“I am thrilled to be back in Colorado leading the reopening at Viewline Resort Snowmass,” said Waterman. “It’s an honor to sit at the helm of such an iconic property and to work alongside such a hardworking and inspiring team. We look forward to continuing to welcome guests to experience this newly renovated space and providing both visitors and locals with the high-touch services and amenities Davidson Resorts is known for.”

A seasoned hospitality executive and certified sommelier, Hearns brings an impressive understanding of food and beverage management—particularly within the luxury hotel space—to the team at Viewline Resort Snowmass.

He graduated from Auburn University and began his hospitality career with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Miami before moving to The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua to lead the Operations Excellence Team. Combining keen analytical skills with management experience, Hearns played a pivotal role on the leadership team for the award-winning Taverna Restaurant on the Kapalua resort in 2021. Serving as managing director and general manager, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations, optimizing efficiencies, and leading the business’ expansion into an outdoor venue for patrons and groups.

“Aspen Snowmass is a longtime hotspot for travelers seeking high-quality food, wine, and cocktails, and I’m looking forward to working with the incredible team on property to raise Viewline Resort Snowmass’ profile in this space,” said Hearns. “With a wide range of offerings suited for any occasion, I’m looking forward to curating a destination that locals and visitors alike look forward to returning to again and again.”

Situated mid-mountain just above the Snowmass Village base and mall, Viewline Resort Snowmass features 254 luxurious guestrooms and suites complemented by a curated collection of experiences for dining, imbibing, and exploring. The four-star resort recently underwent a $40 million renovation and rebrand, debuting a new design by The Getty’s Group that offers an elevated aesthetic inspired by a 1960’s mountain town ethos. Viewline Resort Snowmass also brings to the region three dining concepts, including new signature restaurant Stark’s Alpine Grill; enhanced amenities, including a private ski and bike concierge; kids’ club; heated mountainside pool with sundeck and terrace; onsite fitness center; and the new full-service Lupine Spa.
