The Woodlands, TX (June 21, 2019) – The Woodlands® Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Kubitza as Director of Sales & Marketing. Utilizing her 20 years of industry experience – earned at everything from city-center convention hotels to mountain-bound ski resorts – Kubitza will lead a team of 17 in establishing and executing creative strategies to drive revenue from corporate and social clientele. In her role, she will also be responsible for positioning and raising awareness of The Woodlands as the premier resort destination within easy access of the city of Houston.

“Nicole brings with her wide-ranging experience, an impressive record of success, and true passion for her profession – and that’s precisely what we look for in our executives,” said Scott Spann, Vice President, Howard Hughes Hospitality. “We look forward to having Nicole lead our sales and marketing efforts with fresh and creative strategies to attract new business.”

Kubitza has honed her talents with several sizable hotel brands throughout her two decades in the business. She joined The Woodlands Resort from Westin Snowmass Resort and Wildwood Snowmass Hotel in Snowmass Village, Colo., where she was Complex Director of Sales & Marketing for nearly two years. Before departing, she led her team to compiling growth in room nights and revenue that put the properties on pace for a record year.

Previous experiences dotting Kubitza’s career history also include a three-year tenure with Omni Hotels and Resorts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, including as Director, Sales for the region; Director of Sales & Marketing at Hotel Ella in Austin, where she was a key executive on the opening team; and National Sales Manager for the Southeast territory at La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

Kubitza looks back fondly at the start of her career in 2000 when she was Catering Sales Manager at Four Seasons Resort & Club Dallas at Las Colinas and, two years later, Sales Manager for the Southeast Territory at Four Seasons Hotel Newport Beach. “I was incredibly fortunate to start my career in a five-diamond environment,” she remembers. “I learned early on what it takes to provide a world-class experience for my clients and how to ensure I set our property team up for success. It defined who I wanted to be as a leader.”

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to bring my expertise to The Woodlands” says Kubitza. “My ultimate goal is to make sure that when people think of Houston, they don’t just think of Downtown Houston, but that they are familiar with The Woodlands area and how special and uniquely different it is. The Woodlands Resort is such a hidden gem: convenient, surrounded by nature, and completely in tune with the trees and rivers and lakes around it.”

Born in Chicago but raised in Arlington, Texas, Kubitza earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Texas in Austin, followed by a Secondary School Certification in English and psychology from the University of Texas in her hometown. A true believer in the benefits of unplugging for downtime, Kubitza’s “true joy” is Max, a Labrador mix who scoots around in a doggie wheelchair since being injured in an awkward fall. “He’s so happy all the time,” she says. “He’s taught me a lot about perseverance and how, whatever the situation, you still move forward.”
