Denver, CO – March 25, 2022 – As its grand opening date approaches, The Slate Denver, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is excited to announce two key additions to its executive team: Kirby Kiner, General Manager and Von Fabella, Director of Sales & Marketing. Together, these hospitality professionals will ensure the new property offers guests an enriching, immersive escape in downtown Denver.

“We are excited to honor the legacy of Emily Griffith with the opening of this new, historic hotel property located inside her original schoolhouse. With our doors opening in Q2 2022, The Slate will be a huge step in the reinvigoration of downtown Denver directly next to the Colorado Convention Center,” said Kirby Kiner.

In his role at The Slate, Kiner will be responsible for overseeing the property’s daily operations, personnel, business development and guest relations. Kiner has been a hospitality professional for over 25 years and most recently joined the property from Doubletree by Hilton Aurora-Denver, where he served as General Manager. Previous experience includes time as Assistant General Manager at Hyatt Regency Aurora-Denver, Embassy Suites Denver Downtown and three years as F&B Director at Sage Hospitality. A graduate of Michigan State University School of Hospitality Business and an avid cyclist, Kiner loves exploring the outdoors on two wheels in Colorado.

Fabella comes to The Slate with a consistent and extensive track record in increasing total revenues, market share and profit margins. His previous experience includes work with 21c Museum Hotel Chicago, Hilton Hotels Worldwide and The Kinzie Hotel. A graduate of Colorado State University, Fabella is thrilled to be returning to the Centennial State after several years in Illinois. In his role at The Slate, he will create and execute a creative marketing plan that lays the foundation for the hotel’s success.

Located at the site of the historic Emily Griffith Opportunity School, the four-story, 135,000-square-foot Slate Denver will add 251 guest rooms to downtown Denver, supporting the area’s strong demand for hospitality offerings. The hotel puts its guests in the heart of the Mile High City’s favorite attractions and extraordinary nightlight, just steps away from the Colorado Convention Center, Denver Center for Performing Arts, Denver Art Museum, Denver Mint and Denver’s most intriguing neighborhoods. The Slate’s adjacent restaurant and retail block, Emily’s Alley, will be Denver’s most anticipated new shopping, dining and gathering destination.
