LOS ANGELES (May 17, 2018)The Mayfair Hotel, an historic Downtown Los Angeles hotel established in 1926 and managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, has announced the appointment of Peter Kolla as General Manager. Ahead of the hotel’s top-to-bottom renovation debuting in June, Kolla will be tasked with a multi-faceted opening launch, inclusive of overseeing all budgets, marketing plans and operations in his new position at The Mayfair.

“I am elated to join the team of this reenergized and stunningly designed hotel, located in the heart of a burgeoning and animated part of Los Angeles,” said Kolla. “With an unparalleled dedication to unique art and culture programming including amenities such as a custom-built podcast studio and a thoughtfully curated art gallery as well as the debut of Eve American Bistro, The Mayfair Hotel is expertly poised to serve as the city’s newest social hub.”

Kolla’s prior experience includes a tenure as General Manager under a myriad of Crescent Hotels & Resorts-managed properties including Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa, Doubletree by Hilton Albuquerque and Marriott Syracuse Downtown where he took a AAA Three Diamond rating to a prestigious AAA Four Diamond rating. Prior to that, he served as General Manager of the Four Points by Sheraton Los Angeles International Airport, a full-service hotel next to one of the largest airports in the world. There he achieved many recognitions including being appointed to the General Manager’s Advisory Committee and as a member of Gateway to LA’s board of directors. Kolla also served as Director of Operations for SBE, one of the world’s largest privately-held lifestyle hospitality companies, where he was responsible for the effectiveness of 250 operational staff members, supervisors and managers and was directly accountable for the organization and coordination of six major renovation projects.

“Kolla is an esteemed veteran within the hospitality space, particularly within boutique hotels in the Los Angeles area, deeming him an ideal fit for The Mayfair Hotel’s exciting and highly anticipated re-launch this June,” said Alex Moradi, Managing Member, ICO Group of Companies. “I am confident that his prior experience across key hospitality verticals will serve as a crucial asset during our new chapter as well as to successfully position him to help cultivate The Mayfair’s cool factor.”

In addition to his extensive time managing hotels, he also had his foot in the culinary world overseeing some of the most upscale and prestigious restaurants in Los Angeles such as Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel, Union Restaurant and Bar, and Café Melisse.

Kolla holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California Santa Barbara.

About The Mayfair Hotel

This June, The Mayfair Hotel – an historic 1926 hotel located in the emerging Westlake neighborhood of Downtown Los Angeles – will unveil a top-to-bottom renovation led by Los Angeles-based, Icelandic architect and interior designer Gulla Jónsdóttir and Artist-in-Residence Kelly “Risk” Graval. With deep admiration of the landmark building’s heritage, developer ICO Group of Companies has repositioned the 15-story, 296-room hotel property to spotlight the structure’s glamorous architecture while incorporating modern enhancements, including a multi-million-dollar collection of art and photography curated by Risk. Managed by nationally recognized operator of major hotels, resorts and conference centers throughout the United States and Canada, Crescent Hotels & Resorts, the reenergized Mayfair Hotel will be positioned as one of the city’s newest social hubs, offering a dynamic art and music programming with a distinct Los Angeles touch. Along with Risk, Los Angeles-based talent management group Regime 72 is curating and managing the entertainment experience while Hospitality Alliance, a bicoastal consulting, development and management company, is managing the Mayfair’s multi-faceted dining options including M Bar located in the lobby lounge, The Library Bar and a signature restaurant, Eve American Bistro, with Executive Chef Scott Commings, who also won Season 12 of Hell’s Kitchen, at the helm. This stylish eatery was named after Eve Cressy, the main character of Raymond Chandler’s short story “I’ll Be Waiting,” which he wrote while living at Mayfair Hotel in the 1930s. Enhanced amenities include the exposed brick-walled ballroom, where the first Academy Awards after party was held, a newly constructed podcast studio, and an art gallery featuring curated art available for purchase. A large outdoor pool located off the third floor will open Summer 2018. The Mayfair Hotel experience is not about exclusivity rather inclusivity positioning the property as a living room for guests and locals alike.
