The Inaugural trivago Awards 2017: America's 10 Best Properties in Four Different Categories Based on User Ratings
November 15, 2016 12:59am
Düsseldorf, Germany / November 15, 2016 - For the very first time trivago.com reveals the best hotels in the United States — based entirely on guest reviews. Chosen for their outstanding customer service, ranking, and performance, the trivago Awards 2017 recognize the 10 best properties in America in four different categories; 5-Star, 4-Star, 3-Star, and Alternative Accommodation.
How did trivago choose these properties? We didn’t.
With user ratings gathered from 34 hotel, booking, and review sites across the web, we’ve crafted a comprehensive, transparent, unbiased index for hotel ratings that we call the trivago Rating Index (tRI).* A perfect tRI score is 100%, and is simply a compilation of all reviews and ratings of each property. Only the highest-rated hotels with prices on trivago.com and at least 150 tRI ratings and reviews made the lists.
Johannes Thomas, Managing Director at trivago said: “We aggregate and analyze more than 175 million hotel reviews from websites all over the world. This gives us strong insights into what hotels are particularly good at.” He added: “Our trivago awards recognize those hoteliers who deliver an exceptional experience to their guests, and we are proud and delighted to award those achievements.”
This year, the number-one 5-star hotel in the United States is the Langham Hotel – Chicago.
Known for their stunning architecture, first-rate service, and sensational spa, guests can’t say enough nice things about their stay at The Langham- Chicago. Quite literally in fact. The same way we aggregate prices from all over the web: We collect the hotel reviews and ratings left by travelers on different booking and valuation sites and combine them into scores, making it easy for the traveler to compare them across varied aspects. These scores are all available on our website; we’ve simply compiled them per their ranking, and the hotel with the highest score is at the top of the list and the award winner.
All hotels that display prices on trivago can be considered for the Awards. To ensure that all ranked hotels achieved a high level of performance consistently throughout the past year, a minimum number of 20 reviews was a requisite for eligibility in the score ranking.
The result: A comprehensive list of the cream of the crop in American hospitality, and prestige and recognition for the hardworking hoteliers behind the winning hotels.
