BOSTON, MA; February 5, 2015 – Oxford Hotels & Resorts announces Larry Casillo as general manager of The Godfrey Hotel, Boston (505 Washington St., Boston), a 242-room lifestyle boutique hotel in Boston’s burgeoning Downtown Crossing neighborhood, opening in fall 2015. Drawing on over 15 years of luxury, lifestyle, and service-driven hospitality experience, Casillo knows what it takes to launch a hotel from the ground up, including building a high-performing team of hospitality professionals to assist him in providing the ultimate Godfrey experience to his guests.

With a name that means “peace and welcome,” The Godfrey Hotel, Boston will emerge in the historic Amory and Blake buildings in Boston’s Downtown Crossing neighborhood. “There’s a lot to be said about the name ‘Godfrey,'” Casillo explains. “It speaks to the all-encompassing, luxury experience we want to offer to our guests, which makes being part of Oxford’s expanding collection of independent lifestyle hotel brands like Godfrey such an exciting opportunity.”

The Godfrey, Boston respects the historical integrity of the Amory and Blake buildings in which the hotel is housed, just a block away from Boston Common, while adding a personalized touch of distinctive contemporary design and digitally personalized integration to help each guest “Discover Your Element.” “Enhanced guest experiences coupled with the latest technology available will strategically position us as an industry leader in building a loyal guest base and to thrive in the bustling epicenter of Boston’s Downtown Crossing,” Casillo says.

Casillo’s extensive career in hospitality includes time in New York and the greater Boston area, as well as a notable stint abroad in London. While at The Bloomsbury Hotel, London as assistant general manager, Casillo oversaw the completion of a nearly $30 million repositioning and completely redesigned the customer experience, which led to the property ranking third on the upper-luxury hotel list of the British Travel Awards 2014.

Upon his return stateside, Casillo served as general manager for the 179-room boutique Hilton Garden Inn in Burlington, MA, which also underwent a comprehensive multi-million dollar repositioning under his direction and received multiple awards from the hotel management’s company, including Top Hotel Operation-AOS Gold 2013 and Most Improved Overall Service Award.

Casillo lives in MetroWest Boston with his wife and two young sons, is active with the chamber of commerce, and sits on the board of directors of a youth lacrosse program serving as the boys’ coordinator.
