CLE ELUM, WA- November 2017- Suncadia Resort, a Destination Hotel, is happy to announce that Hank Thiess has recently been appointed General Manager of Hospitality Operations at the Pacific Northwest property. Located outside of Seattle in the Cascade Mountain region, Thiess will manage the resort’s staff and services in addition to overseeing profitability and operations.

Hank Thiess joins the Suncadia Resort team after recently working at the Wintergreen Resort & Club in Wintergreen, Virginia, where he served as General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the 235-unit lodge for the last nine years. With over 25 years of experience working in the hospitality and recreation industry, Thiess brings in-depth knowledge of resort services, guest relations and a progressive management style that has helped him in former roles at properties that include Durango Mountain Resort, where he was also COO and General Manager.

"The majority of my career has combined two passions, hospitality and enjoying the great outdoors, which made the decision to join Suncadia Resort and Destination Hotels an easy one," says Thiess. “The property’s curated recreation program, unique and varied accommodation options, and proximity to some of the most breathtaking spots in the state make it an ideal vacation destination. I am looking forward to working with the team here to showcase that further and provide the best guest experience possible."

Over the course of his career, Thiess has managed several multi-faceted properties including ski mountains, homeowner associations, and even acted as the Director of Ski School at Keystone Resort in Colorado. His well-rounded expertise and forward style of leadership are integral parts of his success at the hotels and resorts where he has worked.

"We are thrilled to have Hank become part of the Destination Hotel family and know that he will lead the team at Suncadia Resort with passion and enthusiasm,” says Roger Beck, Managing Director of Suncadia Resort. “His deep understanding of the hospitality industry and love for enjoying outdoor recreation make him a perfect match for our Pacific Northwest haven.”
