EVEN® Hotel Miami Airport, which is slated to open October 2018 as the EVEN brand’s first property in the Southeastern United States, announces the appointment of Armando Hernandez as Chief Wellness Officer. EVEN Hotels is InterContinental Group’s newest lifestyle brand and is the first and only hotel brand created with wellness at its core. Equal to a general manager role at a traditional hotel, Hernandez’s responsibilities include overseeing operations at the new property, as well as sales, marketing, and food & beverage. Additionally, as Chief Wellness Officer, he will also ensure the brand pillars – Eat Well, Rest Easy, Keep Active and Accomplish More – are manifested throughout the guest experience.

Hernandez has a notable career track with more than 20 years in the hospitality industry. Through his leadership, Hernandez has achieved remarkable outcomes in revenue growth, employee retention and guest satisfaction results. His management experience began at Tecton Hospitality, where he spent 11 years as General Manager between properties such as Best Western South Miami, The Betsy Ross Hotel, The Strand Ocean Drive and Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel & Conference Center, all properties located in South Florida. In 2010, Hernandez went on to work for Hospitality Ventures, serving as General Manager for Ramada Hialeah-Miami Airport North where he exceeded the house profit by 44.81% in 2012.

Hernandez then joined Trust Hospitality in 2015 as General Manager of Best Western on the Bay and was responsible for a $4 million property renovation, rebranding decisions, facility upgrades, providing strategic operational insight in driving room sales, and occupancy growth and profits for the hotel. During this time, he maintained a 49% flow-through rate for the 118-room property.

“We are delighted to have Armando Hernandez leading EVEN Hotel Miami Airport, the first of the IHG brand to enter South Florida. Through his management, Hernandez will also ensure a strong brand presence in the market, paving the way for further development in the U.S,” said Noel Epelboim, CEO of Epelboim Development Group. “With his managing experience and exceptional track record as an accomplished leader, we are confident that he will help grow the brand’s development while maintaining a passionate environment a wellness-centric lifestyle amid team members and guests.”
