New York, NY – November 22, 2013 – Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Sean Verney as General Manager of The Westin New York at Times Square, an 873-room luxury hotel in the heart of Manhattan’s famed Times Square. Verney, who has an extensive hospitality and business development background, was previously the General Manager of the Sheraton Parsippany.

A longtime Starwood executive, Verney has spent most of his career with the company in New York City. Prior to his most recent GM post in New Jersey, Verney worked with Starwood in Manhattan spanning a variety of positions at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers and the Sheraton Manhattan. The diversity of operations experience contributes to the wealth of knowledge and depth of Verney’s rich hospitality expertise.

In his new role, Verney will oversee hotel operations for what was the very first Westin in New York City when it opened in 2002. In addition, he will oversee an exciting lobby and guest room redesign project and completion of the hotel’s newly decorated meeting and pre-function space.

Verney participated in a number of trainings with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, including Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Trainer, Certified Interviewer, and was honored with the recognition of Manhattan Manager of the Year at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers. He also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
