“Scott Steilen has served as the President of Sea Island for the past five years and, in my estimation, he has done a remarkable job stabilizing and guiding this legendary resort,” said Bartolin. “Scott has returned it to profitability, and I realize how important that is to ensure continuing stability for Sea Island’s members, its staff and the overall economic benefit for the community. I have been very impressed with the energy and passion Scott brings to this job. His appointment as CEO is a vote of confidence by the Anschutz family and the newly formed Broadmoor-Sea Island Company.”

"It has been my honor to work with the most passionate and gracious team in the business, and I am grateful that we can combine that with an also passionate, long-term owner for Sea Island in the Anschutz family. With the opening of our additional 63 rooms and 5,000 square foot ballroom at The Cloister, our best days are truly ahead of us."

Steilen joined Sea Island in 2011 after spending 10 years as a Principal of Warnick + Company, a strategic advisory firm to hospitality industry clients worldwide. Prior to Warnick + Company, he spent nearly 10 years with Ernst & Young as the Central Region Practice Director for E&Y’s Hospitality Services Group. Steilen grew up in the business as an hotelier’s son, and is a graduate of Michigan State University’s Hospitality Business School.
