Today, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is pleased to unveil a highly anticipated expansion, the launch of 19 newly designed private suites. With the introduction of the new suites, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco has grown to offer 53 guest accommodations including 42 ultra-luxury suites and 11 one-of-a-kind private villas. Furthermore, for the first time, the full property will remain open for an extended season, allowing guests more time to enjoy these new accommodations and resort experiences through the fall and festive period. A highly unique and celebrated estate founded by Massimo and Chiara Ferragamo, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco embodies Rosewood’s A Sense of Place® philosophy, wherein the local sensibilities of the destination inspire the resort’s many offerings. The resort’s thoughtful expansion allows the opportunity for greater guest experiences while maintaining the intimate environment and high standard of service expected of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco.

New Ultra-Luxury Suite Accommodations

The 19 suites are all located within a new complex on the estate boasting breathtaking views of the UNESCO-listed Val d’Orcia Natural Park and the hilltop town of Montalcino, access to a semi-Olympic heated infinity pool and exquisitely bespoke interior design inspired by the beautiful natural surroundings. The new structure adds to the property’s Borgo, a traditional Tuscan village comprising restaurants, The Spa and more. As part of its expansion, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco has introduced a new suite category, the Garden Suite. Each new suite features a private outdoor space with dedicated entrances and a sitting area complete with chaise lounges, where guests can enjoy the breathtaking view of the surrounding pristine nature and sweeping vistas.

“This expansion comes at a very exciting time as we continue to welcome back guests from both near and far to enjoy our stunning Tuscan estate,” said Davide Bertilaccio, Rosewood’s Regional Vice President and Castiglion del Bosco’s Managing Director, “Through every aspect of our property’s design and programming, we aim to provide the most bespoke and authentic experience possible and we have executed our expansion thoughtfully to maintain our A Sense of Place® philosophy.”

Authentic Interior Design

The original style of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco has been fully respected in the property expansion. The design of the new collection of suites reflects the estate’s unmatchable style, in which discreet luxury combines with a touch of genuine Tuscan elegance. The resort’s original interior designer Teresa Burgisser has worked closely with co-founder Chiara Ferragamo to ensure the seamless integration of the new spaces and renovations. “The rich but sober beauty and elegance of the resort is brought to life through attention to details, even the most hidden ones,” said Teresa Burgisser. “The diversification of the environments where each suite is different from the other, the fusion of technology and craftsmanship, contemporary and ancient, give life to the eclectic and inimitable taste that has always distinguished Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco. Everything is made with solid, comfortable and precious materials that survive the passage of time –this is the real secret of the timeless charm of Castiglion del Bosco.”

Mrs. Burgisser worked with local artisans, artists, and designers to create bespoke furniture and fabrics in line with the resort design vision, creating a mix of shades, textures, and materials all inspired by the locale. The new suites feature antique artworks and furniture, all handpicked by the interior designer and co-founder Chiara Ferragamo, including oil paintings and prints from the 1700s and 1800s depicting scenes of the surrounding landscape and life in the countryside. To further enhance the suite experience, each features an impressive leather minibar, with a series of compartments, drawers and shelves for storing various types of glasses, cup sets, saucers, tea and everything needed for the preparation of cocktails, as well as bottles of fine wines, coffee machine and snacks of various kinds. In true Tuscan fashion, elements of terracotta are featured throughout the new suites and the entrances feature Burgundy stone. The suite bathrooms are clad in walnut and cream travertine from the Rapolano Terme area, a town about an hour from the estate, and feature ceramic mosaics incorporating various designs and geometries. Each bathroom is complete with a double sink vanity, separate bath, and rain shower. A few of the higher category suites are outfitted with a steam shower for a truly relaxing experience.

Osteria La Canonica’s Refresh

A superb culinary destination where you can enjoy the charm of Tuscan trattorias but with a touch of elegance and modernity, Osteria La Canonica is the rustic yet refined restaurant of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, led by Executive Chef Mattero Temperini. It is the ideal place to discover the most authentic local cuisine. In the heart of the village, where once there was the house of the priest (hence the name), it benefits of a breathtaking view of the hills of Montalcino, dotted with vineyards, olive groves and woods. For the 2021 reopening, the Osteria presents a revamped look: the kitchen, which includes an original wood burning oven, has been enlarged and the outdoor space – the village little square, is set up with tables for outdoor lunches and dinners.
