NEW YORK, NY (April 11, 2016) – Real Hospitality Group (RHG) is delighted to announce the appointment of Alicia Luke as General Manager of Hotel Shocard, which will make its debut later this month. As a skilled associate of the hospitality industry, Luke will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and activities of the hotel, as well as overseeing the space through the final stages of the opening.

“I look forward to seeing Hotel Shocard come to life, and continuing my career in this lively neighborhood,” said Luke. “Times Square is the world’s most vibrant district and we’re excited to welcome guests to experience our design-driven property.”

Luke steps into this role with honors from the hospitality industry and extensive experience in the Times Square locale. With a degree from New York University’s Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism, Luke embarked on her career in the Manhattan hotel scene, working at Four Points by Sheraton Midtown and Fairfield Inn & Suites Manhattan Times Square. Her most recent role was the position of General Manager at the Hotel 41 in Times Square. In 2015 she was honored with a spot on Hotel Management Magazine’s “Thirty Under 30” list. Additionally, as a part of her growing appreciation and dedication to the business, she sits on the Real Hospitality Group’s Millennial Advisory Board, offering insight into the industry’s developing social, political, and environmental matters. Luke is also a devoted mentor in RHG’s Mentorship Program guiding top talent as they begin their ventures in the tourism trade.

Luke will oversee the 47-room hotel in the heart of Times Square. Hotel Shocard will glimmer on the south side of 41st street with an iconic vintage-inspired marquee. The hotel will pay homage to the Times Square of mid-century decades. Designed by Brooklyn-based firm Mapos, the hotel’s intimate and wistful ideals come through in the design and details. Inspiration is drawn from its celebrated location the vivacious glow of New York City in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Room details include patina brass hardware, custom-made Italian furniture, lighting from Brooklyn-based RBW lighting company, vibrant use of yellow and bronze throughout (inspired by glowing marquees), custom wallpaper, as well as dark wood finishes reminiscent of dance-worn floors of Broadway stages. The pet-friendly property will host seven floors of rooms topped with two penthouse suites that come complete with airy balconies. The location will also be home to Gleason's Tavern, an eclectic bar restaurant serving a menu of new American cuisine and a rosy selection of craft beers. All of which ties in the ambient glow of the hotel with its gilded ceiling and intimate feel. Additionally, the hotel enjoys a prominent Times Square location with access to all of its exciting attractions.

“We are very excited to have Alicia on board at Hotel Shocard,” said John Parker, Chief Operating Officer of Real Hospitality Group, the hotel’s management company. “Her dedication to the industry and experience working in the Times Square area will be a great asset to the hotel.”
