NEWBURY, Ohio, July 27, 2015 – The grande dame of northeast Ohio and the Ohio State Parks, Punderson Manor State Park Lodge, has become even grander thanks to an ongoing renovation project that has included an array of infrastructure and cosmetic enhancements.

Since launching the renovation in January, the lodge has replaced the outdoor pool, completely renovated and updated the cabins, replaced the Manor House exterior trim, installed new electrical wiring and upgraded the ventilation and plumbing systems. An indoor pool renovation will be completed in the fall.

In addition to the lodge renovations, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which oversees the state’s park system, invested some $6.2 million in ongoing park improvements including the addition of a 700-foot floating boardwalk, the installation of a mechanized lift for the park’s popular sledding hill, campground improvements and construction of a restroom near the 18-hole disc golf course.

“Punderson Manor has a proud tradition of welcoming its guests with a level of gracious hospitality in an intimate and elegant setting, and with the completion of these projects, it is our privilege to once again showcase our grand dame,” said Greg Woodland, general manager of Punderson Manor State Park Lodge. “We especially appreciate the patience of our guests during our ‘pardon our dust’ phase of the renovation.”

Woodland is especially proud of the renovation project, which included new furniture, bedding, flooring and wall coverings in each of the lodge’s 26 cabins as well as expansion of the lakefront boardwalk to the cabin area. In keeping with commitment to sustainability made by Punderson Manor and its four sister Ohio State Park Lodges operated by Xanterra Parks & Resorts, the wood used to create many of the tables and chairs used in the cabins came directly from Ohio forests and was created by local carpenters.

The lodge is located 35 minutes from Cleveland and just north of US-422. The lodge offers six rooms and one suite in the Manor House Estate plus 24 rooms in the new wing along with 26 hillside and parkside cabins. Recreational offerings include an 18-hole championship golf course, disc golf course, tennis and basketball courts, geocaching, boating and fishing.

The lodge is managed by Xanterra Parks & Resorts and is open year round.
