Organized by Terra International, Lda, the 4th Edition of Portugal’s Future Hoteliers Summit (PFHS) was held on 17 & 18 November 2018 at Monte da Quinta Resort in Faro. In-line with the ethos of the Young Hoteliers Summit (YHS), which is to provide a platform for the future generation of the hospitality industry to exchange ideas, participate in discussions with industry leaders, and gain insightful knowledge and access to the industry, PFHS aims to do the same for the aspiring hoteliers of Portugal.

The 42 participants consisted of students from 14 top universities in Portugal enrolled in a hospitality degree. Participants were able to engage in an enriching weekend with an industry challenge, keynote speakers, panels and workshops. This year’s challenge was to create an innovative hotel concept suitable for all generations. The 1st prize winners of the challenge will have the opportunity to join the 10th Edition of the Young Hoteliers Summit (YHS), at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.

For the very first time, YHS had the privilege of being invited to speak at the event to share valuable insights and promote the spirit of hospitality. YHS was represented on-stage by Julian Manning, our Head of Speakers, who prepared the speech in collaboration with our Head of Partnerships, Simone Solèr. He spoke on a range of topics from the career paths of hospitality leaders to millennial food, lifestyle, and travel bloggers, and emphasized the diversity of today’s industry. Julian recounts, “it was a real pleasure to witness the enthusiasm and passion of these next-generation talents. There is a great spirit and heaps of motivation amongst the students to shape and develop the industry we call our future.”

YHS is proud to collaborate with like-minded partners such as PFHS and looks forward to strengthening its relationship in the future: “We believe that strong partnerships help us establish a resourceful learning environment for students globally, leading towards a positive and meaningful experience for the YHS community”, says YHS Core Team member Stefan Pippingsköld.

The 10th Edition of the Young Hoteliers Summit will be held from the 25th to 27th of March 2019 at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.
