New enhancement provides instant authentication of Wi-Fi-enabled devices and seamless, secure online experience for guests connecting to Nomadix gateway-supported networks.

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. – June 18, 2019 – Nomadix Inc., Nomadix, a provider of guest-facing cloud-managed network edge devices, has announced the addition of Passpoint™ Hotspot 2.0 technology from Global Reach Technology to its Wi-Fi network gateway solutions. Mirroring today’s cellular connectivity experience, the integration of Hotspot 2.0 with Nomadix gateway technology offers a next generation Wi-Fi experience to secure and streamline guest Wi-Fi authentication. The integration will be showcased for the first time at HITEC 2019 in Minneapolis at booth #1646. Hotel guests will now be able to securely and frictionlessly connect to a property’s internet service using the Global Reach Hotspot 2.0 profile stored on their devices.

Offering a unique ‘above property’ authentication service, the Nomadix and Hotspot 2.0 integration ensures a faster online experience with lower latency by enabling central control of guest connectivity but more localized authentication. This allows guests to connect to property Wi-Fi with minimal effort, and with assurance of its security, due to Hotspot 2.0’s use of the highest level in WPA2 security encryption.

The partnership between Nomadix and Global Reach further extends the capabilities of Hotspot 2.0. If the hotel prefers, guests can be redirected to a portal to accept Wi-Fi terms and conditions or to provide the opportunity for another guest touch. Also properties that are interested in the revenue opportunities provided by carrier mobile data offload can be comfortable knowing that this traffic can be safely segmented to not impact guest Internet usage.

The process works by using a one-time provisioning file that is transmitted to each guest device, automatically configuring the Wi-Fi settings and all necessary encryption protocols with no need for human intervention unless desired by the property. Once registered and provided with a Passpoint™ Hotspot 2.0 credential, guests are automatically and securely connect to Wi-Fi Hotspot 2.0 coverage areas whenever they are within range. This can include guest rooms, lobby, common areas, meeting rooms and essentially anywhere that Hotspot 2.0 is enabled.

“Nomadix remains dedicated to providing the hospitality industry with the latest tools to manage a guest’s Wi-Fi experience, convenience and security. Adding Hotspot 2.0 by Global Reach is yet another example of that, allowing hoteliers to meet guest demands for secure, high performance, and seamless internet connectivity,” says Ted Helvey, CEO at Nomadix. “These issues are among hospitality’s largest challenges in maintaining guest satisfaction.”
