Accor has officially launched a stunning $40 million renovation of its flagship 419 room hotel, Pullman Melbourne on the Park, which is located opposite the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The upgrade has been designed by leading architects DKO and features magnificent views from every room, taking in Melbourne’s famous gardens, the MCG, the Sports and Entertainment Precinct and the Melbourne CBD.

The renovation includes 19 floors of completely upgraded Superior, Premium and Deluxe rooms and suites as well as a new Executive Lounge and William Clarke Sky Villa, positioning Pullman Melbourne on the Park as one of Melbourne’s premium hotels.

The exquisitely appointed rooms include specially designed windows with metal shrouds to act like frames transforming the world-famous views into works of art. Each room has a window chaise to relax and enjoy the view. Privacy glass in the bathrooms switches back and forth between a clear window panel and a non-transparent opaque panel, allowing guests to enjoy the stunning views even from the bathroom.

Positioned on Level 18 of the hotel, the new Executive Lounge features plush velvet sofas, marble tables, a large flat screen TV and bar area making it the perfect place to relax and take in the sweeping views of the MCG and the iconic city skyline towards Port Phillip Bay.

A spectacular renovation to the William Clarke Sky Villa has been completed, which makes it one of the most luxurious hotel penthouses in the city. It is perched on the top two floors of the hotel with the best views of Melbourne.

Accor Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Derry, said Pullman Melbourne on the Park’s iconic location, opposite the MCG, the Sports and Entertainment Precinct, the CBD, as well as bohemian Fitzroy and Richmond, makes it the perfect hotel for leisure and business travellers alike.

She said she was thrilled to finally showcase the stunning upgrade after it was completed during Melbourne’s last lockdown.

“Pullman Melbourne on the Park has always been a leading choice for visitors coming to see Melbourne’s year-round major sporting and cultural events. This spectacular renovation will take their hotel experience to the next level.”

The re-opening comes just as Melbourne’s hotels are experiencing a steady increase in occupancy and forward bookings for April and beyond.

“With domestic travel still favoured by Aussies, the popularity of staycations, the much anticipated AFL season kicking off and concerts back up and running, we’re hoping that growth will continue.

“We are also confident that with the easing of international restrictions, Melbourne will again take its place at the top of the wish list of international travellers, in the meantime we look forward to many Australians experiencing everything the Pullman Hotels are famous for around the globe in a world class city,” says Ms Derry.

This hotel upgrade of Pullman Melbourne on the Park concludes the comprehensive renovation program following the earlier investment made to transform the ground floor lobby and reception, as well as the popular Cliveden Bar & Dining areas.

Pullman Melbourne on the Park is located at 192 Wellington Parade in East Melbourne, opposite the MCG, Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Park precinct. It is a popular destination and the ‘Home of Sports’ to host teams and spectators attending AFL, NRL, Cricket and the Australian Open tennis.
