iRiS Software Systems, the leading provider of guest-facing technology for the hospitality industry, is pleased to announce the launch of two new and highly innovative features: iRiS Check-in & iRiS Mobile Room Key. Both will be unveiled at HITEC, the world's largest hospitality technology show, taking place in Austin, TX, from June 15th to June 18th.

A lot of announcements regarding this new technology have been released in the past couple of months, however only focusing on backend technology or developed in-house by specific hotel group.

iRiS Software Systems have expanded this proposition by productising it, therefore making it available to purchase by any hotel brand or individual property. In that way, iRiS Check-in and iRiS Mobile Room Key (in partnership with Assa Abloy) are the first of their kind: they are completely brand independent and can be installed in any location.

With these new features, iRiS is making the guest experience truly mobile by offering travellers even more convenient ways of personalising their trip. Today's tech savvy guests already use their smartphone for so many activities, such as boarding passes, to browse reviews and explore their surroundings.

iRiS has recognised the importance of investing in this new technology to give guests, and the hotels that welcome them, more flexibility and choice.

So how does it work exactly?

Once a guest has booked a room, they can retrieve their booking and choose to check in within the timeframe allocated by the hotel.

Once checked in through iRiS Mobile Valet, the digital concierge app, guests can choose to use their mobile phone as a room key.

Upon arrival at the hotel, they can completely bypass the front desk and go directly to their room. After ensuring their Bluetooth is enabled, the guest just has to open the iRiS Mobile Valet app and press the button to open the door. They then hold the phone to the door lock. The phone broadcasts the key via Bluetooth, the door opens, and the guest can enter their room.

Jason Jefferys, CEO and Founder of iRiS Software Systems: "When I founded iRiS this technology seemed really futuristic! But the future is now and our responsibility as the worldwide leader of guest-facing solutions is to offer our end user, the hotel guest, the best possible experience that exceeds their expectations. These features represent an opportunity not to be missed that will help them save considerable time and money."
