Miami Beach, Florida (August 1, 2013) – Tracing South Beach from its earliest pioneer days to today’s high-energy global resort, an exciting new DVD is bringing the remarkable comeback story of this historic district to life. With historical photos as well as on-location scenes, ‘SOUTH BEACH: Stories of a Renaissance’ offered by Tropic Moon Media provides a unique look at one of the world’s most popular travel destinations.

“Our new 36-minute video recalls the booms, busts and personalities responsible for turning an isolated, mosquito-infested island into a glamorous beachfront resort in less than a century,” said DVD producer Eleanor Goldstein. “From local residents to global travelers, everyone enjoys learning more about this unique 23-block neighborhood known for its distinctive Art Deco architecture.”

Featuring historic photos as well as colorful present-day scenes, the new DVD is narrated by noted tour impresario, Charles J. Kropke, who collaborated with Goldstein on a lavishly illustrated landmark book of the same name. Tropic Moon Media recently published a second edition of “SOUTH BEACH: Stories of a Renaissance’ following a successful sell-out of the first edition.

“We look forward to airing our new video on public television as well as offering it to visitors and meeting planners who have planned their events in South Florida,” said Kropke.

Since the first edition of “SOUTH BEACH: Stories of a Renaissance” was published in 2011, the locally written and photographed hardcover publication has won great reviews from booksellers, travel planners and readers.

Last year, the Miami Beach Design Preservation League (MDPL) selected “SOUTH BEACH: Stories of a Renaissance” as its feature book for MDPL Reads, a community reading program. The coffee-table book was also featured during Art Deco Weekend, an annual event organized by MDPL that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, Lincoln Road and the other storied streets of South Beach.

Kropke is likewise expecting a favorable reception for the DVD as well as the book’s second edition. “Locally, ‘SOUTH BEACH: Stories of a Renaissance’ has been a best seller in the travel and historical categories for the past two years,” he said. “We have also received a tremendous response from meeting planners, businesses and other groups as a premium gift for corporate incentive trips, conventions and other events.”

“Like the book, the new DVD is a treasure trove of original stories and iconic places” said Goldstein, adding, “our DVD and book make a beautiful addition to the existing literature of Florida history.”

The new DVD, which retails for $19.95, and the hardcover book, priced at $49.95, are available for purchase on southbeachstories.com. They will soon be for sale on Amazon.com and at bookstores, tourism bureaus, airports, and local shops.
