MEMPHIS, TN March 10, 2021 – The Memphian, a boutique hotel located in Midtown Memphis’ Overton Square, is set to open this spring as a member of the Marriott Tribute Portfolio. The project features 106 guest rooms including 9 suites in its 73,523 square feet of space, as well as two on-property food and beverage outlets, the neighborhood’s only full-service coffee shop, a 24-hour state-of-the-art exercise studio, curated retail experience, and rooftop event space.

Management company MMI Hotel Group is excited to announce the leadership team who will serve as ambassadors of The Memphian brand with a keen attention to every detail and a rich understanding of the guest experience.

Kristopher Colig joins The Memphian as General Manager. His extensive experience in the hospitality industry assures a driven team focused on achieving excellence. For more than 13 years, Colig served at a number of Hyatt Regency-properties as Assistant Director, Director of Food & Beverage and Director of Hotel Operations, where he successfully managed all aspects of hotel operations including food and beverage, catering, culinary, and engineering through a team of managers and service associates. In 2016, he was honored by Hyatt Hotels and Resorts as “Food & Beverage Director of the Year” while serving as Director of Operations in the Dallas / Fort Worth, TX metro area. That same year, Colig also took on key business responsibilities as owner of San Daniele Restaurant, where he played an active role in the brand’s launch, budgeting, and business plan development.

Director of Sales Bobbie Peppers also brings an accomplished skillset and unwavering passion to The Memphian. With a 15-year proven track record of increasing sales for properties including Omni Louisville Hotel, Sheraton Music City Hotel, Tunica Properties, Hilton Memphis Hotel and Marriott Downtown Hotel in Memphis, The Memphian is more than confident with putting its growth in Peppers’ capable hands. Most recently, Peppers served as Director of Sales and Marketing at Hu. Hotel in downtown Memphis, making her no stranger to the city’s boutique hotel scene or its community.

President of MMI Hotel Group Micajah Sturdivant oversees the hotel’s brand positioning and its operations team. “We couldn’t have chosen a more talented and hospitable leadership team to welcome guests to The Memphian,” said Sturdivant.
