Carmel Valley, Calif. (April 2, 2019) – Carmel Valley Ranch, the award-winning resort playground in the Carmel Valley on California’s Central Coast, has appointed hospitality veteran Matt Bailey as managing director of the 500-acre property. Bailey, who brings a wealth of knowledge to his role with more than 35 years of hotel and resort experience across the country, will guide daily and long-term operations for Carmel Valley Ranch.

“California is my childhood home. I’m overjoyed that as I return to California, I’m joining a destination so devoted to the child in all of us,” said Bailey. “I’m delighted to be part of Carmel Valley Ranch at such an exciting time as we prepare for a big year ahead.”

Most recently, Bailey served five years as president and chief operating officer for Aqua-Aston Hospitality in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was an integral part of advancing the company’s global growth strategy. Prior to Aqua-Aston, Bailey was managing director at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort in Wailea, Hawaii. His previous experience includes serving as senior vice president of operations at Aston Hotels in Honolulu, Hawaii; co-founder/executive vice president at Fandango Resorts in Park City, Utah; and vice president & general manager at Sundance Mountain Resort in Sundance, Utah.

Bailey holds a degree in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is a car enthusiast, avid reader and photographer in his free time.
