Orlando, Fla. – April 18, 2019 – Margaritaville Holdings today announced the appointment of Shamim Lodin as director of hotel development. Bringing more than 20 years of hospitality experience to the position, Shamim will lead the portfolio expansion for both the Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts and COMPASS select-service brands across the Americas region, including the Latin American and Caribbean markets.

“As we continue to expand our business to new coordinates, we couldn’t be happier to have Shamim join the Margaritaville team,” said Rick Cunningham, senior vice president of hotel development. “With extensive experience in global sales and new business development, Shamim will play an important role in the expansion of the Margaritaville portfolio.”

Previously working with notable brands such as Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Ritz-Carlton Hotels & Resorts and most recently, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), Shamim brings years of experience in global sales in both the business-to-business and business-to-consumer sectors to Margaritaville. While at IHG, he led the new business development teams and hotel sales support teams for the Americas region, with focus on incremental revenue delivery into focus markets and brands.

Based in Atlanta, Shamim is passionate about his community, serving as a coach for his son’s soccer team and a frequent speaker at his alma mater, Georgia State University. He also volunteers his time as a mentor at Year Up, an organization that provides urban young adults with professional career training. A native of Afghanistan, Shamim speaks English, Spanish, Persian and Pashto.

Shamim joins Margaritaville at an opportune time as the brand recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its first COMPASS by Margaritaville Hotels & Resorts property on Anna Maria Sound in the Bradenton, Florida area. The new select-service boutique hotel brand also has properties planned for Beaufort, North Carolina and Louisville, Kentucky. Margaritaville’s rapidly expanding hospitality pipeline consists of more than 20 additional projects, including its first full-service lake resort opening at Lake of the Ozarks this spring and its first urban hotel opening in Nashville, Tennessee this fall.
